Not So Happy Holidays

It has been so long since I posted I feel like a newbie here. I have been home a few times but did not have time to check on mylot. Joe says I have to many irons in my fire. He has been suffering with an injured rotator cup all week and can not use his right arm. He says it feels like an absessed tooth in his shoulder. Poor man. He says he is not but I can tell that he is depressed over my holidays plans to. I will be flying to Tacoma, Washington to spend Christmas and New Years with my son and his family. He is the one who paid for my ticket months ago and this was the cheapest deal he could get. That means I will not be here for Joes birthday, Christmas or New Year but he tells me I should go because soon we will be to old to travel. I am having terrible mixed emotions about it but I can not be in both places at once. His son will be going to Pa. for Christmas so he will not be here either but hubby says it is not his first Christmas that he was by himself. He also told me that as long as we love each other he is never alone. He and my daddy are the two sweetest men I have ever known.

You're in a difficult position with wanting to be with Joe and already having plans to spend Christmas with your son and his family. These are the times when we wish we could be in two places at the same time. Hope Joe gets some relief from his shoulder pain.

Your Joe is a wonderful man with a fabulous sense of humor and a kind heart. I just replied to his post about his rotator cuff. I hope he reads it. Happy Holidays to you. Enjoy your visit. We will keep an eye on Joe.

I'm so sorry Joe's in pain with his shoulder. I had surgery for a severely torn rotator cuff last year and still have some pain at times. Tell him I'll be praying for him. I know you hate to leave him alone for those holidays, but hopefully you can celebrate together when you get back.

That is a difficult situation to be in but I guess it can't be helped. I'm sorry about his bad shoulder.

Well, he bought you the tickets so he obviously wants you to go.You are the love of his life, and to see you happy makes him happy. Enjoy your trip and come back and enjoy some time together.

Sometimes I think the holidays come packaged with as much sadness as joy. Uncle Joe is a treasure (and so are you) and he's right. Travel while you can, enjoy your children and grandchildren and enjoy time with Uncle Joe before and after. This holiday season is full of mixed feelings for me. There is much to celebrate, but with that joy comes the reminder of loss and regret. Praying for you both.

Tacoma! That's just over the mountains from me. This Spring I will drive through there on my way South. I'll think of you. Hope your Christmas has some brightness to it.
