I was on my way to Brooklyn from work and decided to take the D train instead of going to the N train, which is a few blocks down.
When the D train came and I went to sit down I saw a quarter on the seat next to mine. So, I just picked it up and put it in my wallet, becoming 25 cents richer.
I couldn't believe that the lady sitting next to me hadn't taken it. There was no way she didn't notice it because it was right by her.
I was glad I decided to take this train... Twenty five cents is very little but it's money nevertheless. Why give it up?
Have you found any change or bills lately?

I would have also picked that up quickly. I have ever picked a five hundred shilling note worth five dollars and I was so broke, you can never imagine the joy I had that day.

It is amazing that you found 25 cents on the D train. Some people drop low value coins. You see a lot of coins in a purse or a wallet can be heavy. Today I paid for my food shopping with one bank note and lots of coins. I sometimes find 1 pence on the ground. To have 1 pound you need 100 of these. So again is a very low value. Near to a secondary school is where some 1 pence pieces on the ground. I imagine a student bought something for 99 pence and dropped the 1 pence change.

I used to pay with coins sometimes but cashiers can get frustrated or angry if you pay with coins when you have a whole hand of them... They hate counting all that change. But coins are money and they have no right to not accept it. Hypothetically, I can come into the store, buy something for a few bucks and pay for it with pennies, and they should not say NO.

I would have picked up that quarter in a flash. I found a penny the other day.

On a different day, on the subway, I thought I saw five cents on the ground. I had lots of bags in my hand and was running late so I decided not to deal with it and just moved on. I then regretted it... It would have taken less than a minute to stop and see if it's a nickel and pick it up if it was.
