Some of you know that I'm a huge cookbook fan and have a collection of almost 100 in my kitchen that I use regularly. One of my most recent acquisitions is the Now & Again cookbook by Julia Turshen. Turshen is a well-known cookbook author who has co-authored on many famous books (Hot Bread Kitchen, Gwyneth Paltrow's books, Margaritaville Cookbook, Buvette, Spain: A Culinary Roadtrip, etc.) She recently has published 2 of her own cookbooks. First was Small Victories which was amazing and this fall came Now & Again.
Now & Again is an interesting book because it is set up both by season and also by menus. So for the fall season you get an Italian-inspired dinner, a card night, and a stress-free Thanksgiving. For summer you get taco-night, a barbecue, etc. At first I was a little off-put by the way the book was formatted but I eventually got used to it.
What is really cool about it, though, is that not only does Turshen tell you how to prep as many things in advance as possible but she also includes multiple recipes for using the leftover dishes from each menu. Tortilla soup gets turned into arroz con pollo. Leftover salad becomes arugula pesto. Garlic and anchovy toasts become the base for meatballs. I love that! No waste and no boring repetitive leftovers.
Now & Again was named the best cookbook of 2018 by *somewhere*. . . I can't remember if it was Eater or Epicurious or some other foodie writing establishment. Just trust me because I wouldn't lie to you about this. This is definitely a cookbook worth looking into if you are searching for something new to add to your collection. Turshen's Small Victories is another awesome one too.
Note: so far from Now & Again I've made the Tortilla Soup, the Confetti Meatloaf, the Creamy Garlic Mashed Cauliflower, the Super Crunchy Limey Salad, the Iceberg Wedge with Pickled Shallots, and the Cheddar-Horseradish Double Baked Potatoes. Everything has been wonderful.

Sounds good to me. I have some cookbooks but usually what happens is I start with a recipe then decide how I would like it better and finish up with a new recipe I have created.
