Would mini-quiches make an upside-down cake?

I have gone on and on about how my husband and I are both getting hard of hearing. We’ve now been tested and Vince needs two hearing aids and I need one – although we both have two ears. We have some funny conversations from time to time if we’re trying to talk to each other and we’re either not in the same room and/or not face to face. I made two dozen mini quiche this morning. Most will be frozen and thawed a couple at a time for a snack. We also have some peach slices in the fridge. So today’s conversation went like this: Himself, from another room: That’s a lot of quiche. Me: You should make an upside down cake. Himself: With the quiche? Me: Of course. Peach would make a lovely upside-down cake. We laugh at these exchanges. If you didn't laugh, you’d cry.

This reminds me a lot the conversations between my maternal grandfather and my paternal grandmother. They spoke two different dialects and most of the time their discussions were a lot of fun.

@LadyDuck I can understand that that would be the case. It's like if you have to explain a joke to someone it ceases to be funny.

My mom and dad were like that, and it was so funny listening to them talk back and forth to each other. My brother and I would get quite a laugh when we were kids.

Are you saying you have these conditions? I know a lot of people who cannot have gluten. It makes cooking quite hard.

These are the mini quiches. I do make them quite often. They are made of onion, bacon and cheese in a pastry case.

Tell you something texting would be a great alternative if you are not face to face. Now coming to your romantic conversation where did the upside down cake come from?

I thought we could use up the excess peaches for an upside down cake but Vince was talking about quiches. Quiches, peaches - they do sound a bit the same. And once when I was very comfy in my recliner I emailed Vince in the next room for something or other. I don't have a mobile so texting isn't an option at the moment.

Well, at least that's because he is in another room. But not because he is a bit deaf now.

Oh, that's funny, Judy! Not that you and Vince need hearing aids, but that you have such funny conversations! When Pretty yells something from another room I refuse to guess what she's trying to tell me. I always yell back, I can't hear you (in a sing-song voice) so she comes to me to tell me whatever. She gets mad about it sometimes, but I don't care. She has young feet and legs. It won't kill her to come tell me what she's saying!

@JudyEv Did Vince tell you you were mumbling all the time? My dad used to yell at us kids to stop mumbling and mom, too. I do yell at Pretty to speak clearly instead of mumbling at times!

We have our hearing aids now so a new era has begun. I've already noticed I don't have to say things twice and apparently I've stopped mumbling too!

@JudyEv - Ha ha! That reminds me of a conversation my husband and I had one time. Me listening to my husband, I hear him say: "We have a good life." Me responding: "Yes, that is so true." My husband looks at me strangely. Me reacting: "Wait, what did you say to me?" My husband: "I said, you are a good wife, but I didn't expect you to say yes, that is so true!" We both laughed so hard at that!

@JudyEv I've got the same problem. I create and I make, but I rarely write things down, which generally means, "Enjoy it while you can, I probably will never make it quite like this again."
