I've got quite the busy day ahead of me (ok, I'm watching two football games and a hockey game, but I'll be busy doing it,) so I'd better get the old Girlfinder out now. We are at #10: "Ready to Go" by Republica. Fronted by charismatic vocalist Saffron (born in Nigeria as Samantha Sprackling,) Republica is a British alternative rock band formed in Windsor in 1994. In the 1990's, British alternative bands fronted by women were all the rage, and Republica took full advantage, releasing their self-titled debut album in 1996, which contained their high-energy hit single, "Ready to Go." The song originally peaked at #43 in the UK, however, as it started to chart internationally, a re-release reached #13 in their home. If you don't think you've heard this, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that there's a very good chance that you actually have. "Ready to Go" has been used in 17 movies or television shows (including the Season 16 opening of Dancing with the Stars) 10 television commercials, and sports stadiums all over the damn place play it, either to fire up the crowd during breaks in the action, or prior to the start of the game, as is the case with the Boston Red Sox and the Nashville Predators. You've heard it. Republica went on hiatus in 2001, reformed in 2008, and are still going strong. And Saffron rules, so there's that, too! (Info verified by Wikipedia)
