Finding a Doctor

One thing they never tell you about when you become an adult is how hard it is to find a doctor. That is what I am doing today. I called my insurance to see who my primary care physician was and I wanted to request someone closer to me since I don't want my grandma to drive me that far. A nice lady gave me 3 names and they are all family doctors. I learned the difference between family, general, and internal doctors today. So that was interesting. The one name she gave me is like a highly praised doctor which of course she is booked. another name is a hit or miss kind of doctor. The last is a male doctor. I actually prefer male doctors. I know most females prefer a female, but most female doctors I have had never listened to me and male doctors tend to be so relaxed. But he also mostly focuses on osteo stuff, he is a family doctor so he goes after everything. I just don't know! I am still looking around to see if there is anyone else. This is exhausting. Trying to be healthy sucks.

My primary care doctor has been my doctor since I was a baby. He is very calm and laid back. He doesn't put meds on me and knows I avoid meds if possible so I really like that about him! Last Christmas when my car was broke down he gave me $100 in a card. I was just shocked by the kindness of that. I hope you are able to get in to see a doctor soon it can be so frustrating to find a doctor and get into appointments. I have absolutely no idea what an internal doctor is. I would assume some kind of internal organ guy

@DesirousDreamer Oh no that is terrible! Makes you leery of doctors after that. I had to see a nurse practitioner that worked there once and she was a rotten woman I was so glad when she went to a different office.

That is amazing! I want to have that kind of doctor I know for ages and get to know like that. Sadly that hasn't happened yet especially since my first doctor I actually remember ended up being a bad man haha

@shaggin Well, thankfully I wasn't one of his victims but he was creepy, and I did get to kick him in the groin when he was testing my reflexes what was right before he was arrested too.

Good luck with your search. Having just moved to a new province, I'm doing the same thing.

It can be hard finding one, especially one your insurance covers. I hope you get a good one who listens and helps

It is even harder since I have Medicare and not regular insurance.

Best is to consult some specialist

But I need a basic Primary care before I go to a specialist because specialists asks for refferals which is what a PCC gives.

I know how this feels. My problem is I can't find good doctors. I find lots of doctors, but good doctors are rare.

I agree with you when you say, trying to be healthy sucks, but then again, we don't have a choice but to be :-) Have you considered suggestions from you trusted friends or trusted neighbors. They might know somebody whom you can drive to. Good Luck :-)
