A new day with new challenge..

I did not get up fresh as I always do. Some family member if not feeling well puts you under stress and you don't get a good sleep. Mom in law stabilized in the afternoon and then again was wobbly in the evening when I returned from my daughters music class. Her sugar was low and so we gave her a glass of sugar and water. She felt a little better and went back to sleep. We were worried and kept checking on her in the night. Her blood reports have come in the morning. It is bad. There is electrolyte imbalance, kidney number has gone up a bit. And her haemoglobin is too low. She needs a blood transfusion soon and I am taking her to hospital now.
So my day began with this challenge.
Hope things are going good at your end.

Yes she is sleeping peacefully in her hospital bed while I am waiting on the couch next to her. She might need a blood transfusion for her low haemoglobin later today. I am waiting for doctor to come and visit.

Waiting for doctors visit. They have decided for a blood transfusion later today. We are on this roller coaster ride since last three years. She has been hospitalized several times. I am hopeful that soon she will be stable and we can take her home. It is matter few days.

@allknowing She is a kidney patient. She is not diabetic. Her sugar dropped as she did not eat anything well in last two days.
She had met with a big car accident in 2013. Had brain injury. Now she has some dementia too.

@JudyEv Her pathology reports show some infection and so transfusion is ruled out. They are contemplating on some iron Injection which is slowly administered through IV and helps the hemoglobin level to be normal fast in few days. See what they come up to.

Please do not take offense by my response. I do not think self pity is done in a deliberate manner, rather subconscious. However, in this situation you feel more bad for another person, but here you are dragging about it. By no means it is a tough situation, but if you just take what’s in front of you and push through with it by any means with all positive thoughts, these dragging feels will not come around.

@Nikkkki12 Thank you so much for your kind and wise words. Certain unexpected situations in life leave us with so much of wisdom and learning. I totally agree with you.

Those are good thoughts and I am living by those in last 6 years. First it was my father in law struggling with cancer and then we lost him in that battle. Now it is her in last three years. I am all positive and doing what I can do in my capacity.

@arunima25 I am very very sorry to hear that, and all my best wishes are sent. The only reason I said what I said before is because I lost a little cousin (14 years old) to a rare brain tumor, and the kid seriously didn’t complain one time in his life, it just opened my eyes in a different way. If bad things happen to be constantly surrounding us, maybe just pushing ourselves to smile and get through the day won’t make it all that bad. Life sucksss but hey, that’s life? And as long as you’re in good health, your doing alright. Always here if you feel down too:) great person to always talk too

In old age this kind of problems are very common. On hearing these things, I just imagine myself be there and I don't know how will be able to tackle this. Hope she will be normal with her BP and blood sugar very soon. I know the challenges are always high when you are watching the sufferings.

Yes it is challenging. But now we have got used to it in last few years. It has been a lot of such events in last so many years. First we struggled with father in law and his cancer and we finally lost him. Now it is like this in last three years with her. We are trying to stay positive and do the best we can do in our capacity.

I feel for you. I don’t have to look after an elderly family member but my three year old grandson does get sick and when he does, it’s sleepless nights for me. His mother has to work so it’s up to me to take care of him. And what’s worse is that he doesn’t like to take his medication. I think in this sense it’s easier taking care of an adult patient. I pray your mother in law gets better.
