Bad Health News from the Doctor

Well, I had my regular full physical checkup at the doctor's office with blood work and all. Things don't seem to be looking good. Due to my physical injuries it's hard for me to do the routine household chores. I usually make sure there's healthy food in the house to cook and stuff but grocery shopping is also a big issue for me. With this in mind, I've turned to ordering takeout for meals. Not good at all... My cholesterol is up among other things. Now I have to be very careful what I eat and I need to detox. I'm not gonna go cold turkey off of all the junk, but I sure haveta be very careful. My sugar levels are even in the danger zone for diabetes. I've never let it get this bad. I'm usually very wary of what I eat and stuff, but I've really fallen off this time. I cannot continue to allow myself to go so deep into a downward spiral. There is a solution. Now that I've found some grocery stores that will deliver I do have other options that I did not have before. So I got ShopRite to deliver to me some healthy good supplies. It's still difficult for me to cook since I can't stand for long periods, but I will do my best. They have prepared foods that's better than eating fastfood takeout, so that will help. I have to be healthy for my daughter.

@CarolDM Thank you so much! It's not that difficult. I just have to be more careful with junk food. I've never had this problem before because I never let it get this bad. I guess it's gonna force me to work on losing the weight I gained and stuff. I know there's exercises and things to do that are low impact to help me with this as well.

@CarolDM Absolutely! Moderation is the key. I know what to do. I used to do it before when I was an athlete. It's much harder for me now that I'm older among my other issues.

I have never used them, but here all the mayo supermarkets have a delivery service. It is wonderful for people who donĀ“t have the time to go for their groceries, for whatever reason.

@marguicha It's really good to do when you can't make it to the store yourself. More people are very busy in this day and age. Also, with the internet and online shopping more people would rather shop that way. It's not for everybody, though. My parents are older and still like to go out to shop.

I know how easy it is to slip into the convenience food zone. It does take more time and effort and such to cook healthier meals at home - but oh in the long run it is worth it for the sake of health and more. It's good that you can use the grocery store delivery services - that will be a big help. Best of luck!!

Thats tough not being able to shop for yourself, don't you have anyone that could get your groceries for you when you need them. I can't eat the fast food because there is so much salt in all of it which is bad for me. I hope you can get the healthy foods you need.

@cintol That's the problem. I don't have anyone around that can really help me. I have to depend on myself. So that's why I'm glad that I have the option to get my groceries delivered to me.

It's awkward if you can't stand while you cook. Can you perch on a stool for some of the preparation time?

@JudyEv I can't stand for long periods, but I can still stand. It just takes longer because I haveta take breaks in between or I lean on the counter if it gets bad. I push through the pain when I can.

@Plethos Though it's gonna be difficult, I can't really lose patience due to my doctor's suggestion. My doctor said that if I'm not doing better by the next checkup that I may haveta go on meds and I definitely don't wanna do that. I always forget to just take my multi-vitamins among other stuff I'm already taking. I don't wanna have to go on any other meds. Thank you for the words of encouragement

@snowy22315 Thank you! It's been a challenge for me after college. I miss the days when I was younger and it wasn't an issue. It's not easy getting older among my other circumstances in my situation.
