Happy Friday! It's time for the weekend! It's time for hot chocolate here. Brrr! And, it's time for another song on my countdown of favorites by the legendary rock band The Who! Here's some quick trivia for you: the original lead guitarist for the band was supposed to be Roger Daltrey. Things didn't turn out that way, and aren't you glad. Here's today's song.
#8: The Kids Are Alright
This song gave the 1979 documentary of the band its name. That's a particularly sad thing to watch, if you watch closely: seeing how Keith Moon went from young, energetic mayhem to an old man at the age of 32 (he died while the film was in post-production). In fact, Picky Wedia says that Moon was so messed up that it was almost impossible to get him to perform during sessions for Who Are You.
But that was long after this song came out. From their debut album, "The Kids Are Alright" has an autobiographical feel to it: the band were kids (I mean, look at them in the linked video below!), just starting out, feeling their way ("sometime I feel I've gotta get away"). It's also a "man's lib" song: "I don't mind other guys dancing with my girl."
Or if you just sing along without paying any attention to the lyrics or the meaning, that's alright, too, kids.

The state of Moon proves the kids were not alright.

I jut like songs by the way they sound. I rarely wonder about the lyrics. I liked their early songs. The drumming on some of the early songs was out of this world.

@FourWalls I see! The drumming was not from earth but from the moon.
