Do you find "social media" to be confusing at times?

I recently received two Facebook messages, inviting me to two shows featuring the band shown in in this picture. That's me on bass, and my buddy Michael to our right, on guitar.
Thing is, I quit this band several months ago, as did my buddy Michael, a few months before I did. The band leader (the woman in front) would schedule us up to a year ahead (I'm never sure what I'm doing in a month, much less a year ahead), and was too self-centered for my tastes. She'd even interrupt me if I was talking to someone in the audience between sets, and would turn the conversation into something about her.
My buddy and I still fill in with this band when they need someone, but we're no longer official members of the band. One of the "gigs" mentioned in the Facebook message is at an old folks home. You don't "attend" such an event. You're either in the band, or you're friends and family of the old folks there.
Is the band leader telling us we/they need some subs for those days, and inviting me and Michael to play? Is this some computer-generated promo that she never deleted us from?
I have NO CLUE.
I know I could call her or email her. But for some reason I don't want to. I will eventually. Do you ever find yourself confused about things you receive on/in "social media"? I think there are too many ways too communicate these days. And too many corporations trying to take control of our lives.

Who knows if you even check your Facebook page? I haven't checked mine in weeks. I would wait for a phone call or email. If you get none, then don't worry about it.

I am not a fan of social media. not that much... if they like you to be there or participate, wouldn't it be nicer if they will tell you directly she needs you to be there.
maybe you should tell her that she can't use the photo where you are there if you are not playing with them. Because it might lead to a wrong publicity.
Did I get the message correctly? or I am confused too. lol

@Mavic123456 Yes, but I don't think she uses this photo. It's from a couple of years ago.

I was going to say I have no idea because I don't frequent them too much. Except that I'm guessing that suggestion came directly from Facebook somehow. I keep getting suggestions on friend requests or info about those I barely know or not enough to become friends in there with them.
If it had a record of you being friends with any other part of the group that still plays it probably put two and two together and assumed things it should stay away from.
It would be nice if the sites had a disclaimer or some notation that showed who or what entity began the notification

That would confuse me as well. Not sure what she's after. Social media in general, I think, does make life a little more complicated at times. My sister and brother in law might send invites via Facebook. I am not always on Facebook and sometimes I miss them, and yet you are expected to KNOW.

I don't get confused with social media, I just get irritated with all the garbage. I'm spending less & less time there.

In my case I am used to social media. I remember like 12 years ago when all this started I created my facebook account, and I was okay. Then the years passed and some updates here and there, but more than confused I am getting bored. I would rather spend my day watching videos on Youtube than wasting my time on social media gossiping lol, although gossiping is good sometimes :) LOL.

@TheHorse I am buying it. Watching Youtube videos is awesome, besides you can learn lots of things if you watch tutorial videos where people teach you how to make things and practice on stuff. I mostly watch English vids on YouTube cause It helps me developing my ears to understand better the language.

I do the FB thang, but I haven't been in that kind of confusion. It must've been odd to see an old group photo on a new invite . Perhaps she is not detailed oriented to have noticed who all was in the photo, or she had no clue what she was doing there. If this were indeed official business, this is not a proper way to communicate that to key people . . . she should have directly called or emailed as things like this might get lost or not seen at all through social media.

I’ve gotten to the point where I basically use Facebook to (a) post a song, (b) play Bejeweled Blitz, and (c) get some laughs from JJ.

I got a friend request from myself a year ago on Facebook. I was really excited to accept so that I could scroll through the account and see what I was doing with my life. I was extremely disappointed to later discover that it was a hacked account. I was hoping I was a rich or famous doctor or something.

I rarely visit facebook. Kakao, naver , weibo and twitter are most used social media here.... In your case, I guess it's spam or I don't know really...
