Origami is deeply significant in my personal mythos, and so features prominently in my artwork
Once I read a book on philosophy, which suggested that we are born "Tabula Rasa", a blank sheet of paper. As we begin to experience life, these events are recorded upon that sheet
Perhaps this is true, but it has never struck me as an accurate metaphor. I feel like my soul is more like a sheet of paper, which has been folded and creased and bent back upon itself, whether or not events have also been writing on it
I hope that one day, all the pain I've felt will turn me into something beautiful, like a sheet of paper that was tortured into the shape of an origami swan.

is it nice to be human? This is what makes us different from other animals. We can express how we feel or how we felt.
You will get over the pain, Alex. you life will not be like a origami swan but will look more like ahhm.. better than that... sculpted maybe
relax... rain will pass and sun will shine again, the paper will get dry and the will be a different kind, hard and crispy. " stronger and wiser "

It's funny - I do modular Origami and I never thought of the paper as being "....tortured into the shape....". Although that's a very creative and interesting way to express it. For me, the paper is strong and able to be bent and twisted and folded yet retains is strength. I'm always amazed at how flexible it is. And yes, your pain will become something of beauty, it will decrease as you grow and beauty will replace the pain. But I think that in all phases of our lives some pain is to be expected. It's a part of life....and living.
