Complaining

Complaining is one thing I am not too comfortable with, kids do a lot of complaining.. Its okay for them, however when adults do it, it seems a little off balance. Its normal to whine or whimper once in a while.. but too much is not good at all. It makes you feel down and out and pulls down the others around you too. Man my ears are hurting listening to someone whine all day.. I have mentally switched off .. I try to be compassionate but at certain times it is really not good to encourage self pity.. These whiners seem to find solace in whining rather than finding solution to their problem.. Do you feel so too? Do you listen to whiners often?

@sofssu that's why if someone asks your help you help but then try to observe, if the person is a whiner and also like playing victim all the time, you can just listen to your left ear and then come on the right ear. we don't to dwell too much

It's is not good to complain for no good reason or about everything under the sun. When someone has a legitimate concern I listen to them and try to see if I can help them in some way. Thankfully I don't know anyone who is a constant complainer.

Well, i can listen to a whine, but not when it gets to be discussed over and over again. If I havr said what i have to say about it to the person, but won't hear me, i will avoid the person already after that.

At one point when I worked, there were several complainers in the office near mine. One of them decided to start complaining to me instead of her usual friend, who had told me about the complaining before. I told her there were solutions for whatever problem she told me about. I think a lot of complainers don't want solutions, they want sympathy or pity. Giving her solutions made her stop complaining to me. Unless the whiner is a friend or a good friend, I have no patience or sympathy and will give them solutions to their problems and be done with them. I realize this doesn't work in all situations, in which case I would avoid the whiners.

@sofssu I guess as long as you can mentally switch off that helps. If the person is someone you have to be around and they won't change I suppose there's really nothing else you can do. I've been told in the past that I need to change the way I get upset about some people because they won't change, but I can control the way I react to them. And it's true. I also have things I could complain about but there's no point. Anyway, I save it all for @Mavic123456 and complain to her privately.

I try not to whine too often. Whiners never get any listeners for long. Sometimes it's difficult when a person becomes old and you feel bad that they were not like this before

@responsiveme Its okay to whine once in a while.. I have nothing against it.. I will be a willing shoulder to lean on.. but when people go on and on about their miseries not wanting to see their blessings, not wanting to find solutions, it is terrible. They somehow seem to think that we don't have any problems just because we don't complain.. At times it just drives me crazy.

my motto for complaining is ; if you start complaining ,you can never stop .. i had this experience.. i also was a complaining person,it doesn't change anything ,just make things more negative and worse.. i stopped complaining very long time ago.. i always try to enjoy and like small things in my life.. i think feeling happy with even small things... its my way of dealing life..

I've always been a good listener for others. I never drowned others with my problems. The only thing that happens to me here is to express my feelings, maybe because nobody knows me, so it's easier.
