Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patron Saint of Mexico and the Americas and today is the day we Catholics celebrate her. The photo is of the display set up in our sanctuary at church for this special day. The flowers are all real. If you don't know the story of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Saint Juan Diego, you can learn it here at this site: https://youtu.be/vG_mfgfDtac It is a simplified version we use to teach the elementary school kids the story but it is also how I learned the story just a few years ago. Does your church celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe?

We have a place named Guada Lupe here in my country, I think it was influenced by Spanish long time ago.

I think you are correct. The Spanish occupied your country for a long time before they lost to the Americans in the late 19th Century.

You are welcome. It is a nice story and the video covers the major events without getting too bogged down in details.

No, we do not celebrate Our Lady of Guadalupe, but today the European northern countries celebrate Saint Lucy. We celebrated The Immaculate Conception the last 8th of December (both here in the south of Switzerland and Italy).

@DWDavis I think that it's celebrated in several countries through Europe, but not all the countries.

I think there is a religious play on this performed on this day.

The Hispanic members of our congregation put on quite a pageant twice on this day, once at dawn and again just after sunset.
