Leftovers: Who actually eats them?

United States

Hi everyone. Just another short post today. I'm still trying to get over this migraine and hope that it goes away soon but I hope everyone reading this is well. Anyway, there is a debate going on in my house at the moment of who actually eats leftovers. In my house, there is ONE person out of the 4 who live here who eats leftovers and it's me. Now, if I am the one doing the cooking, I don't mind eating the leftovers because I won't cook something I don't like to eat. However, last night, someone in my house made cube steak the way HE likes it. No flour, no seasonings and he ended up burning half of the cube steaks and the hashbrowns. So now, I am stuck eating this burnt cube steak and hashbrowns for days while the other two adults in this house ordered out for dinner. No thought to ask me or my daughter if we would like to order anything either. So who in your house actually eats leftovers if you have them?

@Janet357 With veggies, once they look like they're about to turn, I take them out to the groundhogs that live under our shed in the back.

It does get boring. Plus the longer the food sits in the fridge, the more flavor it loses. If it has any to begin with lol

We eat leftovers. No point in wasting food.

I try not to waste food but I can only eat the same thing so many days in a row. I wish other people in my house would help eat the leftovers. One adult in my house made beef barley soup and he made SOOO much. Then when I had to throw most of it out a week later, he b***hed at me and we got into an argument. He shut up pretty quick when I pointed out that he refuses to eat leftovers so maybe he should stop cooking so much. There are only 4 people in our house. Not 20.

@thislittlepennyearns The last time we froze it, it sat in the freezer for a year before we ended up throwing it out. It barely had any flavor when he made it this time around so I doubt anyone would eat it after it had been frozen.

We both eat leftovers. It's wasteful if you don't.

@CountryGirl31 see there are two of us so we generally have leftovers or anything we make. Unless it is something that is already portioned out before we make it.

Yes it is. I prefer to make only what I know people are going to eat and not have any leftovers.

Actually its me who eat the leftovers. But whenever they ordered anything fir my hubby they asked me and my daughter too. If they don't ask you then you can order yourself for your daughter and you too.

Me and my daughter are trying not to eat out as much and save money for this summer. I'm hoping to surprise her with a week in a cabin in the woods or a trip to New Orleans this summer.

I love leftovers sometimes it tastes way better the 2 or 3rd day. I freeze alot of mine since Im vegan I make enough for several days. My other half prefers to eat out all the time I just don't like garbage food.

There are some things like chili that I don't mind having leftover. If I'm the one cooking, depending what it is, I do make alot of it. Like Chicken Lasagna. I make alot of that but it's always better the next day.

I eat leftovers all the time. What's the issue?

The issue is that I'm the only one eating them in my house but the other adults in the house complain about wasting food.

There are some things I like a little burned but not totally black. Like onions. I love burned onions.
