Travelling In Style

These floor coverings provide warmth on a cold floor and lend colour to the room.
Originally made from animal fur and hair they are also traditional crafts . A lot of labour and talent goes into making them, each country having their distinct design and style.
However , I live in a hot place so bare floors with an occasional rug thrown in are better .So why do I need a carpet?
To travel in style of course.I am looking for the magical variety that would allow me to visit all those places my lotters write about.
Fellow my lotter @MarshaMusselman has suggested handrails , to ensure I don't fall off as I whizz through the sky.
So where would you ask your magic carpet to take you?
PS..Photo of Afghan carpets shared by a friend who visited the carpet industry there

So we can chat as we fly side by side.
Carpeting is necessary in your climate ,I guess. It is also common in parts of the Himalayan foothills in my country

We have a carpet just to brighten up the interiors.
Fortunately I did not have the need for a flying carpet as I have covered many places travelling the normal way (lol)

@allknowing I think I would love to take a magic carpet to see your beautiful home as well. I'd love to be able to help out with your Christmas party.

We would have to pre-plan so everyone we were visiting wasn't gallivanting around the world visiting us. That would be very disappointing.

We have several Turkish made rugs that Anne brought home many years ago when she lived there. My carpet would take me to Italy and to Turkey. We have wood floors.

Here I have tile floors throughout the condo and an area rug in the living room. At my house I have hardwood floors throughout, some covered with area rugs and some with carpeting. Our kitchen, bathrooms, and new family room are tiled. I visited and had lessons on making silk carpets in China, Egypt, and Turkey. I’d fly back to get some.

@responsiveme Except that Dianne won't have to wait until we build our magic carpet with rails. She can fly there via normal channels.

Cool, I almost missed this fun post not realizing you wrote about our idea of visiting with each other in this way.
Looking at the carpets on the shelf made me think that would make a good puzzle to try to do. Although, I'm trying for the third or forth time to put my games away so I can accomplish more around my house and with my end of year bookkeeping before going back to work in Feb.
I used to have carpeting in every room but the two smaller bedrooms and the bath and kitchen, of course.
Two years ago my daughter and I removed the carpet in the living room because I got a trail of blood all over it, but it was long past time to get it gone anyway as I think it was the original and wouldn't clean up perfectly. I'm still in the process of removing the carpet in our bedroom which is old also. That I was able to remove where our bed was before. I did it in between getting the current bed. Now, I just have to continue working to get the carpet from around that area off too. I took a break as I didn't want to make my wound worse getting down to the level of the floor.
I would visit everyone that I've made friends with here on my magic carpet. I'm not sure that the broom Andria would ride would be any safer than your carpet with the rails, lol.

@responsiveme Having full room carpets make for warmer feet in the winter months and having a house with carpeting was the norm until some years ago when many people are pulling out the carpeting and replacing it with wood floors. Our house, as many were before I was born, was built with wood floors underneath the carpeting. Unfortunately, because our builders expected to use carpeting, they weren't to watchful about getting paint from the paint can lids onto the floor. So, ours really needs to be refinished, but that's a future project unless we just put some other wood on top.
They also have a olive green carpet in the dinette area which I use for my computer and filing, but years ago, when I was painting the room, I dripped paint onto the carpet and didn't know it soon enough. I hope to remove that carpet also one of these years, but I don't know yet what is underneath if anything. I may have to wait until it can be replaced when the kitchen floor is redone one of these years, hopefully.
And I would have anyone here that would like to come too, but I'd need to take off a few more months to get my filing done first, lol.

@MarshaMusselman I understand about the warmth. So in my part of the world we don't need it. In fact when it gets hot hot in summer lots prefer a mat made of natural fibre like reeds or some tree barks on the floor.
This is of course where air-conditioning is not there.
Those wooden floors of yours sound so lovely.
Will keep your filing dates in mind

Glad you got to this.
Having carpets in different rooms do make for work keeping it clean,I guess. We are more used to sweeping and swabbing floors.
Would enjoy having you over
