Blood!

More specifically, transfusions. Hubby had to have two units of blood today. The bad thing is, we had to wait for six hours for the typing and crossmatching and delivery of the blood from the blood bank. If anyone has suspected it would take that long we would have come home for part of the day. That was just part of the results from the follow up with our doctor. The other things that are going on are these: We discussed the fact that Bob has had anemia, nose bleeds and other bleeding problems his entire life. Suddenly she said "Has anyone ever checked him for a clotting disorder?" She is going to get him in to see a hematologist when an opening is available. We also discussed some concerns about the attitude the cardiologist has, plus what seems to be contrary to what he is saying as far as Bob's heart function. He may get a second opinion from another cardiologist soon as well. We just barely got home. I will not be here much, but wanted to tell you where I had been. See you all tomorrow.

Tony`s heart doctor is a quack and the primary care doctor is getting him a new one too. I am glad Bob is getting new doctors. I am sure he will feel awesome tomorrow, he has blood!

That is a lot on your hands. Yes thinning of blood could be the reason and there is a cure for it.

His heart doctor wants him on blood thinners, his primary says NO and we are going to get a blood doctor. We are wondering if he has a blood clotting disorder as this has been a problem all of his life.

Wow, can't believe you had to hang around that long and wait, they couldn't have let you go home and called you when it arrived? Hope he can get it all straightened out soon.

They did not know how long it would take,or they would have. I find myself wondering if he had a hard type to match. They would have liked to have sent us home, but that also would have represented a little bit of a drive for us.

@cintol We will go for a recheck on his hemoglobin today. If he needs blood again we will go about our business until they call and we will drive the ten plus miles home. We are waiting for a package.

@GardenGerty Hopefully next time they get it all together for him so that you can go at a scheduled time and not have to wait on anything. Guess it was better for you if it would have been a longer drive.

I think that second opinion is a must. Wishing that things get better soon. All that waiting does drain your energy

I hope he can talk with a better doctor who can help him, there are so many quack doctors around.

This goes back to my "parts is parts" discussion. The heart doctor is all concerned about his part but it does no good to have a heart pumping and yet have the blood oozing out all over.

@GardenGerty The different doctors should discuss among them and coordinate their efforts.

I'm sorry it took so long to get the blood. It sounds like you have a doctor paying attention to symptoms and asking questions. I hope everything is sorted out soon and everything goes right for your husband with his medication and his health.

@GardenGerty I am glad that the doctor that discovered the nose bleeds, etc. sounds like a good one and glad she helped discover and can find out what is really going on with him.

@GardenGerty That is good. I was waiting for my turn to go into the ear, nose and throat doctor on Thursday because he cleans my ears out and there was a man that was bleeding so badly we let him go in right away after someone came out. The poor man. Do not know how it happened.

good luck: blood is a necessary thing for your body: be glad it happened at all: waiting is the hardest part. We all have blue blood so that means that we're all Royalty...think about it...

They did not know either that it would take so long. We hesitated to leave in case it would get there. If there is a next time, we will all know better.
