It is Raining Cats and Dogs

I am sure you have all heard the phrase, It is raining cats and dogs. But did you ever wonder where the phrase originated? This is what I found when researching... The well-known antipathy between cats and dogs and their consequential fights has been suggested as a metaphor for stormy weather. That at least is a plausible theory. It purports 'cats and dogs' to be an intensifier and that the expression means 'raining in a bad way'. In truth, what was in the mind of whoever coined this expression is now lost to us. I have to admit defeat and say that I don't know the origin of this phrase. In other words, nobody really knows the origin. But we do know it means it is pouring the rain. And that is what is has been doing here since yesterday, non stop. Thankfully no thunderstorms, only a steady rain. And no cats or dogs falling from the sky. Plans for the evening? If so stay safe out there. Watch out for the cats and dogs.

If I were to guess, I would say it originated in London. Dont know why just do. Plans for evening is to reflect on what I have accomplished for the day and it better be worthwhile.

I don't know if it will rain "cats and dogs" but we are supposed to get some rain tomorrow. I think it will get rid of most of the snow that's on the lawns.

@CarolDM Right now it is still raining and most of the snow is gone. Will it get colder and will the rain turn into snow? We'll find out when we wake up tomorrow morning.

That is such a cute graphic. I think I did hear the origin of the phrase one time..but of course, I have forgotten it.
