Loving Arms

This picture is another old one, but it so embodies my grandmother. She was a loving woman who loved all her grandchildren, and we all knew she loved us.
She was the peacemaker between my father and grandpa who were always in an argument about something, usually politics, but football and baseball came under heavy scrutiny as well.
Grandma was an excellent cook. Walking into her home, was delectable as she always had something cooking, and unlike today with fast everything, it was all made from scratch and the taste sensation was out of this world.
Grandma always had a kind word for everyone. She never stood still for long, so when she did sit, it's no wonder she would fall asleep. I just love this picture, taken at Easter that year in our upper apartment.
Strolling down memory lane. Thanks for reading.

I really like old pictures like this. And I'm glad they're dated so you know exactly when it was taken.

@xander6464 And names put on the backs of pictures so people know who's in them. I'm guilty of that too. I just went through a box of pictures and there are many pictures I don't know who's in them, and I took them.

@just4him I had two remarkable, Christian grandmas. They both loved the Lord and children, above all else!

I was 9 going on 10 in 1960, most housewives had to cook from scratch because not too many processed foods were available back then. Plus, womens lib hadn't started yet so most wives learned to cook to please their husbands ..... I'm so glad I didn't have to do that, I'm not exactly a good cook

Some of it did some good @just4him now women are no longer the property of their hubbies so they do not have to put up with abuse.
When I was a kid and dad had gotten drunk and threatened to kill mom we tried to call the police but they weren't allowed to talk to kids back then so they kept asking to talk to dad .... now that has changed, the police will listen to kids and wives when they call about any kind of abuse.

@rebelann I'm sorry you went through that.
I never felt like I was anybody's property, not even when I was a kid. I've always been my own person and never let people push me around like that. It's probably why the Women's Lib movement didn't affect me.

I think all grandmas do the same thing. My grandma was the same, she used to cook awesome food for all of her grandkids and she'll even give the 18+year older grandkids a place to sleep whenever they had job nearby or school. Whenever there was a party going on my parents would tell us to keep it dwn for my grandma and she would always say let them, they're just acting like teenagers. Are those your siblings or cousins?
