What a ridiculous thing, once again we have our crazed president bowing to the radical right, and costing everybody money. My son works for a government contractor and he is forced to take unpaid leave when the govt. shuts down. It is bad, bad, bad. What are your feelings on this?

I know it sucks that they are out of work right before Christmas. I'm not a Trump supporter, but he is not fully to blame for the shutdown. Congress is the body that is responsible for passing a budget, and they could not come to an agreement on a temporary budget to avoid the shutdown. So Congress needs to shoulder a good portion of the blame. But regardless of who is to blame, it is not a good situation right now for federal workers and contractors.

Actually, I think they had approved or were about to approve a stop gap measure..without Trump deciding to put a monkeywrench into everything we wouldn't be in this situation. I do not blame Congress one bit on this one honestly.

He IS fully to blame for this shutdown and he said on national TV he would be proud to own it. Everyone heard it. The shutdown is his, ALL his. He's a liar, so changing his stance on Twitter doesn't mean diddly-squat.

@snowy22315 I blame everybody at the federal level. Whether republican or democrat, nobody can get along anymore, and nobody is trying to find compromise or work in the best interest of the country. And of course Trump isn't helping the situation either.

The celebrity president is listening to his advisors at Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter again. They shamed him and it worked. He is doing all he can to cling to his 'best BASE buddies' hoping he gets re-elected, because a sitting president supposedly cannot be indicted, and they are falling all around him. Hope he is enjoying his holiday in chilly, cloudy DC, since he won't be able to take his 2 weeks in sunny Mar-a-Lago.

Yes, that is exactly who is behind this. No one seems to care about the enormous burden we are placing on future generations with this reckless conduct.

@amadeo it couldn't realistically happen until the Democrats controlled the house..besides Trump's lawyers are stalling everything.
