Enough Already!

Excuse me, y'all, while I whip out this rant. I am an avid NFL watcher. I was just watching Kurt, Howie, Terry, Jimmy, and Michael on the FOX pregame show, when unsurprisingly, for the 6,056th week in a row, a Dallas Cowboys game followed. Enough already! The Cowboys are on TV EVERY SINGLE WEEK. It's so bad that the Cowboys could be 0-8 and scrimmaging themselves on their bye week, and FOX would make it their America's Game of the Week. And if, by chance, they failed to do so, NBC would flex it onto Sunday Night Football. After all, there are 16 teams in the NFC. Would it be too much to ask to get to watch a couple of them once in awhile? I hear that the Chicago Bears are playing some pretty entertaining football this season, as are the New Orleans Saints and the Los Angeles Rams. I wouldn't know this firsthand, however, because my only NFC option every week is Dallas. I am under the impression that I live in Denver, but it seems like the Cowboys are on TV here more than the Denver Broncos. I guess that I somehow moved to Dallas by mistake. In a moment of genius inspiration, now-Vice President of NFL Films, Bob Ryan, coined the phrase "America's Team" as he prepared the Cowboys' 1978 highlight video. Sadly, it stuck, and FOX, NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, TNT (and any other network that has ever broadcast the NFL) and the team's obnoxious fanbase went all in on it. Which means that we have no choice but to watch them on a weekly basis. As for me, I remain a loyal member of Raider Nation. Since I refuse to link to a Cowboys highlight, feel free to enjoy Marcus Allen's legendary 74-yard touchdown run in Super Bowl XVIII:

I just saw the scores during the Houston/Philly game. 10th division title in a row. NFL record.

@amadeo - They have won the division ten years in a row. They probably aren't going to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs like they usually do.

It could be worse Scott, you could live here in Florida where we are stuck watching Bucs games in the NFC, and Jags games in the AFC, every week. I don't think there are any two teams in the NFL that are worse than the Bucs and the Jags.

@teamfreak16 They may have better records, but I bet the Raiders are more exciting to watch!

I'm a Redskins fan, so you know I definitely don't like the Cowboys.

Everybody hates the Cowboys, except for Cowboys fans! But they are on TV every week.

Yuck. Who wants to watch the Cowgirls? That’s almost as bad as watching the Patriots.

Don't even get me started with those guys. I'm still bitter about the Tuck Rule!

That is the football equivalent of baseball with the Yankees and Red Sox on nationwide telecasts virtually every day.

That's true. Especially when they play each other. Both teams could be 0-80, and ESPN would still hype it as if it were Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Roger Staubach was fun to watch back in the 70's, but damn, enough is enough!
