Holiday Movies? What's your favorite?

My favorite movie to watch this time of year by far is "The Muppet Christmas Carol." Michael Caine plays Scrooge and it the only human in the film. All other characters are Muppets, with Kermit the Frog as Bob Cratchit and Miss Piggy as his wife. It is true to the Dickens story, but with much humor. I always feel good after I see it again. It ranks as number 36 in a list of the top 50 Christmas movies on Rotten Tomatoes, but it is number one for me. The top three on their list from number one "Wonderful Life with Jimmy Stewart", 1946, (a great one), number 2 is "Meet Me In St Louis", 1944 (you'd have to like Judy Garland, I don't) and Number 3 is a great one, the original "Miracle On 34th Street, 1947. My number 2 is their number 4, "Holiday Inn," 1942, with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. Anyway, do you have a favorite holiday movie?

My favorite Christmas movie is Die Hard with Bruce Willis! haha Actually, it's a toss-up between Christmas Vacation, and Home Alone.

@JamesHxstatic According to Hollywood, Die Hard is indeed a Christmas movie. The movie studio came out and said so. I agree it's a big stretch, which is why I jokingly said that in my comment.

Die Hard? I heard that was discussed as a Christmas movie. It's a stretch. Christmas Vacation was great. Home Alone I only saw once, but it was funny.

Probably one of the older Christmas Carol movies with Alistair Sim. I also really liked Dolly Parton's Coat of Many Colors..It was very good.

Alastair Sim as Scrooge is considered the best movie version of A Christmas Carol.

I do not have favorite Christmas movies. There are many old movies that we like and some that I prefer to watch during the Christmas holiday, but not a specific one.

We listened to the audio tape of Michael Caine's life and it was so interesting. I'm pretty sure he lives in Tasmania now. And wasn't Jimmy Stewart a great actor? I just loved his voice.

@JamesHxstatic Oh sorry, that's right. I remember the bit about searching for just the right village. I don't know who I was thinking of. I've searched a couple of names but it seems I made it all up.

@JamesHxstatic The movie's Christmas theme is when Cosmo Carboni (Sylvester Stallone) dresses up as Santa Claus toward the midway part of the movie. The wrestling match between Victor Carboni (Lee Canalito) vs Frankie The Thumper (Terry Funk) falls on Christmas. It is basically a comedy drama movie about Sylvester's early life in New York City in 1946.

I DO like the Muppet thing. But I would say every Christmas I very much enjoy Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer,, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, and even Frosty The Snowman. A lot of the others that are classics like Miracle On 34th St, and It's A Wonderful Life are just way too cheesy for me.
