Are pets more important than people?

For some of us, pets are more important than people around us. Pets can't do for themselves and need our help always. Is this part of why pets are so important to us? Studies show that many are healthier because they have pets. Isn't that nice to know. Also, no matter how long your day is, your pet is always excited to see you when you return. A few words, a small treat, a pat on the head is all it takes and they are satisfied. Pets make a world of difference to many people. From birds to mice to dogs to horses, pets are more important than the people around us in many cases. How do you feel about you pets?

I had a dog for more than 20 years. Each was a great companion. I miss them. However, pets shouldn't be more important than people. There is so much child neglect.

Many we know prefer their pets to the people around them and we can see why. People in my life are more important than the animals here, but some don't have such relationships, even with their parents.

@PatZAnthony I didn't have a good relationship with mine. I tried to be a better parent, but I was far from perfect.

@PatZAnthony Pets are a very important part of my life. I believe that people can learn a lot of pets. I prefer pets lots of times because they are honest while there are poeple can play games.

@PatZAnthony There are some good people in the world and there are also a lot of bad ones that do not think of others and so do bad things. I would like to have them meet my cat and she could teach them a thing or two.

I like animals but I would never view them as more important than people.

It was my dogs that got me through a grieving process when people turned away from me. So I would say pets are very important!

Yes, our pets can be companions for us and always care about us when humans don't. It's hard to have a bad day when the dogs are jumping with excitement to see us return home.

I am crazy about my dogs and the fact that they love unconditionally is something we don't get much of in this world.

They do give love even when we are late, wrong, whatever! Everyone could probably benefit from the love of a devoted pet.

I have loved all the pets I have ever had--I enjoy interacting with all the pets my neighbors have--BUT I have never and will never call them 'my furbabies' or children!

Many people do call their pets their children or "furbabies" perhaps b/c that is really how they feel. Never asked anyone why they do this.

O, until now we still miss our cute shitzu. Our shitzu passed away 6 years ago due to cancer of ovary. She was 10 years old. Just as you said our lil' dog was always excited to see us when we returned home from work. Even when she was about to be put down by the vet . . she was very excited to see us all standing around him - - with tears rolling down our cheeks. Sigh!

We still have several dogs and it is hard to see them getting older and one being unwell. There isn't always a solution to their issues. It is nice you enjoyed your dog for as long as you could @antonbunot

I am a person who is more connected to animals and nature than to human beings. Human behaviour confounds me. I think we stifle our natural instincts way too much. I like to see animals being real, being expressive through natural behaviours and I can relate to that.

Human behavior confounds many of us. Humans are so often cruel just for the sake of being cruel. We don't see this in our pets @redurnet

We notice this too @Courage7 Humans are often mean or cranky for no reason. We don't often see this in pets.

I L-O-V-E my Persian cat. But unfortunately he's not so excited to see me when I return home ??. It sleeps most of the time and always was kind of selfish... However he is the cutest and I know he loves me!!
