Investing in stock market is a risky proposition. We all know that there are lots of risk involved, but if you can invest wisely, you can make tons of money from stock market. At present the overall stock market is down, and people are selling their stocks. So is it good time to invest in stock market or should you just stay clear of it till it shows bullish trend? It is a complicated question to answer - perhaps only an expert can answer it.

I would avoid investing any new funds in the market right now. Stocks were grossly inflated when corporations used their tax cut savings to buy back huge blocks of their own stock, driving up the prices so the executives with stock options could cash out and make millions. Once they'd exercised their options, and/or the tax cut money ran short, the corporate buybacks stopped, and the market tanked. There is nothing on the horizon to drive them up again, and with interest rates starting to rise, some money will start moving into bonds and other debt instruments.
DISCLAIMER: This is not expert advice, just my opinion based on recent events.

@DWDavis I would say that is expert opinion - you seem to have a very good understanding of the market dynamics.

Forever and always. The stock market goes up. The stock market goes down. But it also always goes higher than it was before any decline. Every single time, like clockwork. People lose money making poor individual decisions. But the markets are always up ultimately.
