I can hear fourwalls in her best Gomer Pyle imitation “Surprise surprise surprise” over the inclusion of this overplayed classic rock radio staple. Nonetheless, this is a great song whose only acceptable version is the extended play “Foreplay/Long Time.” Boston jumped to a huge start as their debut album sold 17 million copies. Subsequent albums sold far less yet still successful enough with a string of hits. The band should have been Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bound but legal issues and group leader Tom Scholz’s obsessive perfectionism did them in.
From the self titled debut album, “Long Time” seemed to be a bigger hit that its Billboard #22. Scholz wrote the song and plays organ in the “Foreplay” lead in. There are three guitar solos. Lead singer Brad Delp committed suicide in 2007. Country group Rascal Flatts performed a concert cover appearing on a live album.

Nice timing! And some great tunes in addition to Long Time including "Peace of Mind, More Than a Feeling and Rock & Roll Band."
