~A Right Way To Doing Dishes?~

Good morning everyone! I hope you are doing lovely and I hope your New Year is going well so far. God loves you and would love a relationship with you!!
Kinda silly I suppose but it has come up in my home that there is a "right way" to do dishes and apparently how I do them is not it!
This isn't a serious argument and I will continue to do them the way I prefer but I'm wondering how others do them now...
First, this is how my husband does them...he fills the sink with soap and water, turns the water off and uses that water to scrub-then rinses them off with clean water.
This is how I do them...I put soap on the sponge and wash some dishes on one side of the sink (after cleaning the sink out first), then put them in the other side of the sink to rinse them off.
Big question of the day...how do YOU do dishes?
No wrong answers-just fun!!
Picture is of my youngest daughter the other day. I don't love her more or anything, she's just the only willing participant usually since she loves being in front of the camera!

That's a great picture of your daughter.
I've done dishes so many different ways. Filling the sink the way your husband does, and doing it the way you do, and washing them under running water without filling the sink because I didn't have a plug for the drain. It all works. Like you said, no right or wrong answers, and I'm sure no right or wrong way as long as they get clean. Now, my preferred way is the dishwasher.

@just4him Thank you, I love it too! =)
Yes, as long as they get clean that's all that matters.

I rinse off any residue from a meal and put them in the dishwasher.
I do wash the pots and pans by hand.
Cookie sheets go into the dishwasher though.

@LovingMyBabies Yes, I remember when I didn't have one. I hated doing dishes by hand.

@moeybags "Cookie sheet" is a relative term. What I mean is just a flat pan. I bake biscuits, cook french fries and veggie tots on mine. I haven't baked a cookie in a long time.

Most of mine go in the dishwasher but if I have to hand wash anything I do it the same way you do

@LovingMyBabies this is the first house I have a dishwasher. I washed dishes by hand most of my life until my kids got old enough and I could make them do it

@Marilynda1225 I never minded doing dishes by hand but being we have the dishwasher here I use it. Sometimes I might do a few by hand. Whatever mood I am in.

Most get done by the dishwasher. But the ones by hand get done one by one.. so neither of your ways i guess, lol

@Courtlynn Before 5 kids I did them one by one. Now there's too many of us to do it that way. Lol.

Great photo! I used to love when I had a kitchen with two sinks. I washed in one with soapy water and then put them in the second sink. When I finished I would rinse them. It made things easier.

@ramapo17 Do you find the double sinks a better arrangement than the one?

Most of the cups and plates go in the dishwasher. But all the rest get handwashed like how your husband does it. I will say sometimes there are not a lot of stuff to wash, so I will end up doing it like you do. Happy New Year! No resolutions about dishes . . . they always have to be done no matter what .

@LovingMyBabies Well, my mom never had a dishwasher - and she will even say that handwashing cleans a lot better. I actually think that's true! Wishing you and your family a fabulous 2019!

@much2say My parents never had a dishwasher when I was growing up and I always washed them and my sister dried them. I actually liked washing them. I felt like I really accomplished something every night. We had a window in front of the sink and I would just stare out it. To me it was peaceful.

I put mine directly into the dishwasher.
I only hand wash good china, crystal, and silver. Those need to be washed with a soapy sponge, then rinsed in clear running water, and dried asap. I always have helpers to help.
Another terrific photo!

Nice picture of her. I keep kosher so I have a side for milk things and a side for meat things. I have one sink so have to put something in the sink for meat and one for milk. I have soap in container for milk side and soap in a container for meat. I soak the dishes in the appropriate thing in the sink and put dishwashing soap on the dishes and then rinse off and put away in the proper place.

I have a portable dishwasher now. Love it. I tend to when washing by hand run hot soapy water, but also load a sponge so that if it is hard to clean I have extra umph. I put them in the second sink, or a dish pan, and rinse several items, putting them on the drainer for a while until dry. It is very slow. I also feel that the dishwasher gets them cleaner and more sanitized.

Lovely photo and lovely girl. At the moment the boiler in the house is on the blink and no hot water. I do the dishes by heating my tea kettle then pouring the hot water in a white plastic tub and adding dish detergent. The water is very hot so I carefully soap up the dishes and then rinse them off with cold water which flows into the hot water. By the time I am done the water is just pleasantly warm and I leave it for any other dishes I might use that day.

@RasmaSandra when my hot water wasn't working for a week I had to heat it on a stove as well and it just made everything take longer and be more tedious.
