Happy Wednesdayall! I am waiting outside of Aldi to knock out some morning grocery shopping (more realistically, Salad supply shopping). I have to return today after a weekend that didn’t feel long enough. I am excited to go back to “normal” weekends for me - where I can spend more “me” time! The holidays have been busy with friends and family for sure.
This is a project me, my older sister and younger 16 year old sister underwent on New Years Eve. The kitchen was pretty jam packed as I was cooking tomato basil soup (turned out great!), my little sis insisted on making brownies, and then of course this body butter and shower scrub we wanted to experiment with.
It turned out ok! A little greasier than I would prefer but the scents (used essential oils) turned out good! We used coconut oil and Shea butter this time. Now I am stocked up on this stuff for forever.
I think I’m the next couple of months I will experiment with making my own candles. I need some fun projects besides cooking!
Have you ever made your own body butter (lotion), shower scrub or candles?

How cool! Yes, I've made my own body scrubs and added essential oils to them. I've also made my own candles, pottery, blown glass, and even made lots of DIY products like laundry detergent, tile spray, etc. All lots of fun back then, but now I prefer to buy my products. Enjoy!

No, but I once made a face pack by blending together fuller's earth, cucumber paste, few drops of lemon and yoghurt.

@maezee Fuller's earth is a clay material that has the capability to decolourise oil or other liquids without chemical treatment. Modern uses of fuller's earth include absorbents for oil, grease, and animal waste (cat litter) and as a carrier for pesticides and fertilizers. Minor uses include filtering, clarifying, and decolourising; active and inactive ingredient in beauty products; and as a filler in paint, plaster, adhesives, and pharmaceuticals. It also has a number of uses in the film industry and on stage.

No, I've never made my own scrub or body butter, but I have made lots of candles over the years. Candle-making was a pre-teen hobby of mine during the winter months.
There is a friend/member on our site who makes the greatest body products including body butter, lotions and shower scrubs. She actually made up some scents that I was looking for and now carries them in her line.

Seems like you had a pretty eventful day. I have never made my own body butter or shower scrub, but I used to melt down old candles in a double boiler and make new ones so I could use up every last ounce of wax. Old jars cost me nothing, and all I had to pay for were a few wicks here and there. They were ugly, but they did the trick.

A coworker gave us all sugar scrubs one year for Christmas. Brown sugar, vanilla essential oil and coconut oil.

That is awesome. I would love to make my own body butter. I have made candles in the past and really should get back to doing it as I have so much was and scents just sitting around for probably 10 years now or so.
