A Happy End Of 2018 and Hello 2019

One of the reasons I love Christmas is all my children show up at the same time and its so much fun to be with all of them again like when they were babes. Plus their partners... The kids all in their 30's and 40's know there is nothing they can give us because we don't need anything. But they must do something for Christmas so this year they bought us a lamb. Not a live one. A neighbor of my daughter grows lambs. We will be eating that lamb for a long time. The kids do that because they know their dad loves to cook and loves to cook lamb. Its a great gift for us, I like eating it too... The photo at the top is Bees wax candles made by my daughter. Two of my kids have bee hives and get a ton of honey every year. It is delicious. My daughter also made the bird seed wreath for the birds . It was so pretty when she hung it up but within moments the squirrels got it and knocked it to the ground. Thankfully my husband saw it happen and saved the broken pieces. They are now hanging from trees in metal bird feeders. I should take a photo of them.... I”ll do that and add it to the post. If you celebrate Christmas I hope you had a happy family time. And to all of you a Happy New Year.

I love both the candles and the seeds wreath. What a shame that the squirrels quickly destroyed it.

@PainsOnSlate To make squares to go into the feeders is better.

I don't think my daughter will do that again, hope she will make squares that can go into out feeders next year. This is the second time her wreath was broken as soon as it was hung up. I loved her candles too.

My Holidays have been fun. The trip to the Rose Bowl was special. I'm glad your daughter has picked up your love of art!

@PainsOnSlate We are truly blessed when we get to do what we love and get paid for it. Did your husband coach football as we know it here in the US? Or as they know it in Europe?

@PainsOnSlate My favorite thing about my first Rose Bowl was NOT the game itself. It was how festive the atmosphere was, and how kind people were to each other.

Me too, she teaches at a well known university, but she loves life and enjoys every minute....my husband (retired pro football coach) would love to go to a big game...me not so much, but willing to hang along...

I love the pretty candles! You're right, the best part of Christmas is having all the kids and grands here at one time.

@PainsOnSlate I know how pets can certainly be family. We've had dogs and cats over the years...our grown granddaughter has a Maltipoo and he's more spoiled than any child has ever been.

I love my kids and they don’t have children, but they bring my grand dogs, and I really love them too.

It sounds like your kids really put some thought into their gifts and of course they need to buy you something for Christmas. I hope your New Year is equally as happy as your Christmas - or even more so.

It sounds like you had a lovely Christmas . I really wish I could get all of my kids together at the same time on Christmas, but there is always a reason that this one or that one can't be with us. I told my hubby that I don't think we will do a dinner next year since it hasn't worked out the last couple of years.

My daughter stayed for a week but her partner and my older son left just after Christmas because they needed to home to do plowing the highways. My youngest and his love were here for a day and left at noon on Christmas to go to her parents home. We tend to do fun food like pasta because the adult kids love it and it’s easy.

Happy New Year for 2019. I like look of the candles. It was a pity the squirrels destroyed your daughters seed wheel. The birds were meant to feed from this feeder. I had Christmas Day at my sister's house and a Canadian relative was visiting. My sister's mother-in-law was born in 1928 so she is 90 years old. Her adult children from Canada love to visit her. I had New Year's Eve with my daughter to bring in a happy 2019.

Happy New Year to you too. I’ve never been across the pond, although my 8th great grandfather came over on the Mayflower so my family has been here a long time. I think I might get to England in my next life. I love living in Canada.

Those darned squirrels, they really have their nerve ruining a beautiful ring like that which was intended for the birds. But squirrels will be squirrels. The candles are very pretty.

Thanks I love them but won't be lighting the trees but will use the others. I found another squirrel on the metal cage but he dropped off when I tapped the window.
