How do you eat a tangerine, clementine, mandarin, or orange? Do you add salt to enhance the sourness or sweetness of the citrus fruit? I peeled one piece of tangerine from the 6 pieces I bought for our media noche. Now, I will eat it with salt. Just a pinch and not much. I still have to have low salt food.

I would never put salt on a tangerine. The tangerine is good the way it is.

we eat them as is. but i remember when i was young, i would patiently take out all the "strings" before i pop one clean smooth slice into my mouth. now, i don't anymore because i see them now as helpful "fiber".

yes that was what i did too when i was young. my mother (+) also did the de-stringing of a piece of the sunkist until it looked like an 'orange candy' (i don't know if you ate this candy that looked like an orange) and she gave it to my kid brother

My husband had this bad habit so he risked to ruin the enamel on his front teeth. Now he never add salt to acidic food.

@ridingbet He has stopped eating citrus with salt, all food high in acid are not good for our teeth, even the tomatoes.

When I was young I used to do that too with our local tangerine fruit(dalanghita). But when the imported ones arrived I somehow lose that habit of putting some salt to it since they are much more sweeter than the once we have.

for us, even if the 'dalanghita' is sweet, we still add salt.

i think it is in one's decision if he adds salt to tangerine or orange, and find out if it is good.

the salt we have here is the fine iodized salt and rock salt is not always sold in stores now.
