Tell your child to sleep some more.

More and more children are getting less and less sleep.
As mentioned in an article in The Guardian:
"Concern has also been raised about what has been described as the 'hidden public health disaster' of sleeplessness among young people."
This sleeplessness has been said to be the cause of more physical and mental health problems than any other factor experienced by teens.
What do you think can we do to help a child to sleep some more?

Turn off all their devices earlier. Don't let them go to bed with them.

I'm not sure. My kids sleep well, except for my toddlers. My older 3 have to turn off all devices and electronics by 11pm. They usually sleep until 9am, sometimes til 10am. They also play outside and don't sit inside on devices all day either.

@Beatburn My children are Home Schooled so that's why they go to bed a bit later than most kids. :)

I see. @LovingMyBabies Homeschooling is now a good alternative to traditional schools.

Sleep is very important, to a child even to those adults.
At least with the children, they more time to sleep or catch sleep when they arrive from school.
But to adults, they cannot just sleep outright at night, because they still have a lot of things to do. And besides, one has to consider two hours of the foods you have eaten for supper, to digest first.

I think by having a regular sleep time and taking away electronic devices at least an hour before bedtime.

Hmmm... well, I suppose we can give them some hard liquor to drink right before putting them to bed. That should make for them sleeping later and waking up with terrible hangovers, too! (You didn't say it needed to be a realistic suggestion, BB! )

when we were still kids, our mother would always tell us to have our afternoon siesta, often telling stories about a dragon picking kids who are awake, and feats on these kids.
