How Possible It Is For An Older Brother To Advise His Younger One Assuming This

I was thinking if it is proper for an elder brother to advise a younger brother who has a wife and a son about family matter assuming the older brother has no wife, fiance or a girlfriend. What is your take on this mylotters.
