Lessons learned from cats

Hi My Lot, I was inspired to write this after a conversation with our own @xander6464 , but then again he inspires quite a lot of things, doesn't he? Cats are really good instructors. Cats show us not to stereotype. I have seen self proclaimed "cat haters" won over by meeting the right cat, eventually letting the cat sit in their chair, and giving the cat the best scraps on the plate. Cats show us that it's good to find the best place to lay down and to stretch often. Cats show us by example that it is best to only use our energies as we see fit. Do you have any good lessons from cats, or other animals? Photo: mine taken of Kiki, with the "psychedelic camera" app

@FayeHazel yes the kids tried to hide it and one day he was asleep on the couch and the cat laid on his chest so the kids were trying to figure how to get it without waking him and when one went to slowly pick it up, he opened his eyes and said quietly "leave it" that's when the whole relationship started.

@bunnybon7 Lol! That is absolutely hilarious. It reminds me of when you're introducing 2 cats to each other. When you're around they hiss and growl at each other, might even fight a bit. But then, you tend to catch them snuggling together when they don't think you're watching. Ha!

Cats are the best. They have taught me to obey them. When they meow or stare, there's a very good reason why. Doodles made us aware of a leak in our roof in our bedroom way upstairs.

@hereandthere He tried to get our attention while we were watching TV and stared at the ceiling where our bed was located. Finally, we followed him upstairs. He sat and looked at the water dripping.

@DianneN Oh yes. Cats are smart like that. Kiki "shows" me her toys. One kitty we used to have named Josie - she would "tattle". Another cat stole and hid my dad's ring. Josie showed us where it was much like Doodles let you know about the ceiling

Cats teach us to enjoy a good sunbeam..and love nature even if we can't be immersed in it.

Cats teach us that not everyone is going to love us. (not all cats are people lovers) Cats teach us to patient, that good things come to those who wait. (Cats don't always come when called, but when they do, we appreciate it.) Cats teach us that when things get rough, it's okay to take a nap.

I love Psychedelic Kiki. Cats have never taught me anything...It's not their fault, cause well, I know everything and that makes teaching me really hard.

Cool photo. I learned that cats have their own personalities, just like people. I love Gracie, but I wish she liked to be rubbed and petted. She only wants to lick anything she can, but she does like to be near wherever we are when we're outside.

Yes, cats can be very smart, lessons that I have learned is not to leave my earphones lying around, because they become their toy. Molly she a white shorthair cat, very smart, one morning I work up to 4 drawers opened, and I thought to myself, we have a ghost or spirit that like to open up my drawers, We found out later that it was Molly, digging through all these drawers in the middle of the night. Buddy her brother, is more into shadows, and Cry, my black cat, like to sleep between my legs, to be warm, especially during this weather. One last note, they do take over my bed and I just can't move them, so I have to always figure out how I'm going to sleep.

@FayeHazel Molly is just nosy, she will pick one sock and take it with her. Buddy, he likes to search, one day we notice that he was playing with a straw, my daughter took it away from him, didn't think much about it, and then she sees him again with another straw, he kept finding them in her closet, we couldn't stop laughing. But Molly is more of hunter, lol

Oh dear I had to chuckle at Molly being smart and opening those drawers, I wonder what she wanted in there. Also as you mention - they each have an amazingly different personality

@FayeHazel I always say that people can learn from cats or animals. They are honest and they appreciate if humans would be honest with them. My cat lays on the floor and I am suppose to climb over her and sometimes she moves for me.

@FayeHazel Very true and now I really need to learn how to get Sophie not to bite or grab. She does it to me. I think some animals are easier to get to know. She was abandoned twice in her life so she probably has issues and I try to tell her I will not abandon her.

@Hannihar That's good you talk to her. I think they can understand more than they are given credit of. When Kiki bites or grabs, I take my hand away and tell her "no"
