Let go

I was talking to someone and I realized that some people never let go of the past.
It's good to remember the past, but it is unhealthy to dwell in it.
One thing I learned early on in life is that 'the past cannot be changed.'
If I wanted to be happy, letting go of the past is a must. I need to live in the now and enjoy what I have rather than mourn over what didn't work out for me.
I have applied this principle to my life and it has helped me remain positive and happy always. No regrets, no grudges only happiness.'
What are your thoughts on this?

I do forget incidents but not attitudes. To be able to get along one has to change one's attitude that is coming in the way of a good relationship.

@sofssu If the past continues in the present as I said particularly with regard to one's ATTITUDE how do you expect to forget the past?

@allknowing The lessons learned are with us in the present but if we dwell in the past we are stuck there.

@allknowing It is not about forgetting the past, it is not about living in the past.. Personally speaking I work continuously on my attitude and keep changing and correcting it. I mean that the past shouldn't be allowed to define the future.

We can learn a lot from the past but we should not live there.

I think it is the best philosophy for living a happy life in the present.

Same here, I left the past where it belongs. You need to get it over with, otherwise it's like carying a weight all your life.

We have something on one of your holidays we have it. It is called The Day of Atonement. This is where we fast completely with no fun or drink for about 26 hours and people ask for foregiveness if they harmed someone. There are people that cannot move on until they take care of the past.

Very hard to let go of the past especially if it caused us much pain. They say forgive and forget ? Yes in due time because letting go and forgiving will have to go on a process.
