You Can't Always Get What You Want

I love this saying. I think it is the perfect one to start my day with. I agree wholeheartedly with it.
I know I am happy with what I have. In my travels around myLot I have noticed that there seems to be many people who are pretty happy with their lot in life. Oh, we all have our days when we need to vent but for the most part people here seem to be a happy group.
I can remember a song for several years ago that goes kind of like this "You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes you just might find you get what you need." I wish I could remember who sang it.
Anyway, I know I have what I need. Are you a pretty happy person, content with what you have?

I try to be happy with what I have. I have had my big sorrows. But who doesn´t! Many have never had what I have had in life.

This one is so true. We have to make the best of what we get.

I used to be a happy and contented person. Recent events have changed that, but I am actively working very hard to get back to that happy, contented state. It is a struggle most days, but it is getting easier with time.

@HazySue Thank you. I was so low recently that I wasn't sure that I would make it through what was going on, but I did, and I am stronger for it. The way I see it, I can choose to be bitter about the things that have happened, but that doesn't change them. It only makes me miserable for longer. On the other hand, I can choose to try to be happy and look for the positives in even bad situations. I'd rather be happy, so I am trying to view seemingly negative things as opportunities for me to learn and grow.

@purplealabaster I am glad you have chosen that way of thinking. You are better for it. Bitterness only makes things worse for you. I would rather be happy, I am glad you have chosen to be happy too.

I haven't reached the age nor the status in life where I can say that I'm content with what I have. I'm still at the stage of life where I want to fulfil something or to achieve something great in life. I'm happy, but as to contentment, not yet.
