It Is Kid Inventors Day!

Good morning, everyone! Did you know, today is Kid Inventors Day!? According to some studies that I read online this morning, 65 % of children that are heading into pre-school this year will end up working in jobs that don't even exist yet! (Future of Jobs Report from the World Economic Forum) That means that today's children are going to learn new skills, be more flexible career wise, and invent new products and jobs for the future! Kid Inventors Day is meant to celebrate the creativity in children. It also is a way to inspire and encourage children to use their imagination and create something new. Something fun to do with your kids today might be to visit a museum of inventions, go on a nature walk and gather materials to "build" something new, or do some online research on an invention of your child's choosing, such as the light bulb or the steam engine. Oh, a fun fact I also found while reading about all of this: Benjamin Franklin invented water skis at age 12! (Photo is of me reading the Kobo out on my back deck.)

@MissNikki That is a good way to look at it and for children to get the opportunity to show what they can do. Good luck to them.

Imagine a twelve year old coming up with water skis... Pretty impressive. I don't think that I was thinking up inventions at 12!! I was too busy listening to the Beatles lol!

I can imagine that some kids will end up doing jobs that do not exist right now. The previous generation grew up with computers and they had many job opportunities in this field that those in their 50's never had before. Interesting about Benjamin Franklin.

@MissNikki I didn't even know this day existed lol But cool either way! And that's some really interesting information. I didn't know any of this. If anything I was thinking jobs would be taken away since robots are doing almost everything lol Lovely backyard too!
