The time is now to take action, only if it makes you feel better. Surround yourself with people who can be helpful when facing all this. Hopefully that nasty person who did that to you is behing bars so them can't do it to somebody else.

If you think you have sufficient evidence and resources to win the case and get the culprit convicted then why not? Another ideal scenario is if he has other victims that are willing to come out then it would make your case stronger. That's all I can suggest since information on the facts and circumstances are limited.
