There is something inherently romantic about an old ruin, especially one that dates as far back as the one in the image I have used for this post. At least, that is how I feel. I like to wander about in the falls stones and wonder about those who lived here oh so many years ago. We the people who lived here happy? What was their life like? Did they struggle to get through each day, or were they one of the privileged ones who sat back and watched servants do all the work? I found this image on Pixabay and I have already formed a picture in my mind of the people involved in this little piece of pat paradise. What comes to your mind when you look at this ruin?

I wonder about the civilization connected to it.

I’ve visited so many ruins in Egypt, Turkey, Greece, Italy, Scotland, Ireland, England, and in Asia. To me, that doesn’t look ancient. All ancient ruins are cleaned from most debris.

It isn't. It is a depiction. I saw it and decided to use it.

That doesn't look like an old ruin to me, unless it just recently was destroyed like some of the ancient sites were by Isis in Syria, the crumbs would not remain there if it fell down years ago.

True, it happened to be there when I was looking for a ruin.

I nwould love to live near some castle ruins. I believe they would make a good backdrop for a book.

Being Italian I have been so many old ruins in my native country. I loved some more than others, I love the old city of Pompeii, it's like stepping back in the past.

As a student of history I find ruins particularly magical. Each ruin has a story to tell. Sometimes, I hear some ancient voices speak near the ruins and sometime I hear cries and noises of battle.
