It’s Winter Here, Too!

It’s winter here, too, in The Sunshine State, but you’d never know it. We had some rain this morning, but the sun is back. It will be pleasant during the day, but cold tonight and very breezy.
Our friends, the famous playwright and his wife, are back. They invited us out to dinner tonight with my sister-in-law and a few others. Can’t wait to see them and catch up.
Meanwhile, I will work on notifications that crept up on me. I just took a look at the weather forecasts for my family and myLot friends all over the USA and Canada. I pity you all.
How is your weather?

As I look out, you winter is much more appealing. It's a white-out with winds blowing and we'll probably get more than a food of snow before this storm ends on Monday. We've been asked to stay home if possible and many activities including religious services have been cancelled.

@DianneN About 2 more months and winter will be over for another year. Send us a bit of sun if you can spare some?

@1hopefulman I wish I could. You will make it through winter as you always do, and hopefully will have some nice warm, sunny days thrown in.

I'm really sorry to hear it, Felix. I did check the weather in certain parts of Canada and it ALL looks awful, especially the bitter cold. We lost our power at our "vacation" home up north, but it's on again. Although there is no snow, they are getting rain and the temps will freeze tonight. Not good.

@DianneN Speaking of ducks, I saw a flock of ducks dropping down from flight, into the icy cold Tawas River this morning! They aren't phased by that, in the least bit

I love this pic of you two !
We actually had some good days of rain - real rain - and we actually were soaking wet here . . . unbelievable as we haven't had this much rain in eons - we loved it!! And now it looks like we are back to 70s again soon - so we are good .

This morning feels much like spring here but winter is rolling this way fast. We are not expecting snow but temps are expected to drop from near 60F (15C) to below 20F (-5C) overnight. We will be down near freezing by dinnertime.
I know you must be missing CT this morning and all the beautiful snow their having.

Feel free to use Fahrenheit temps with me. Lol! 20F is darn cold, but at least it won't last long.
Of course I don't miss CT, but I do worry about our vacation home there.. We lost power, but it's back on now. My son went to check the house before the rain freezes. We are so grateful that he bought a house so close to us - 1.8 miles away.

We didn't get as much snow from the storm as predicted but yes, it's going to be freaking freezing. Enjoy your Florida weather !
Beautiful picture of you and your husband

I was beginning to wonder if we were even going to get a winter here in Florida. Just yesterday, I spent the day at the beach in Tampa, as it was sunny and very warm, and yet tonight we are going to get down below freezing. So funny how we can have such crazy temperature swings in just one day.

@Elizaby In my opinion, the temperature fluctuations have gotten worse with global warming/climate change. Gone are the days when it would get cool and stay cool for weeks at a time. Now it's hot one day, cold the next day, rainy the day after that, etc. It also makes it hard to plan for weekend outdoor activities in the winter because you can never be sure what to expect with the weather.

@moffittjc That is why I often say from the first cool or cold snap in Florida we are in our second season when you flip from one extreme (or some times inbetween) to the other as you wake up to see if you are wearing spring summer fall or winter clothing that day or need to take clothing with you for a front coming in)

Many thanks, Karla. I hope you get a warmup soon. It's the bitter cold that would keep me indoors, too. We lost power at our "vacation" house up north today, but it's back on now. We need the power to keep the heat running to prevent our pipes from bursting. Thank goodness our son and neighbors keep us posted.

@kobesbuddy Yes, we are so lucky to have him around. He's very savvy with houses, unlike our older son. Useless. lol

@DianneN Thank heavens, your son is keeping a close eye on those critical issues, in the north! My brother had heat-tape wrapped around his water pipes. Whenever the weather got bitter cold, he could just plug it in to keep their water from freezing.

I am ready for winter to retreat. However, it is best if we have it now rather than late March or April.
