January 23, 2019 8:35am CST
My kids keep catching head lice from their friends or school. I have tried everything to keep them from getting it. The lice treatment from the store does not work, the tea tree oil does not work, it seems like nothing works! help...im going crazy!

Try neem oil.. it will work.. or try applying lime with oil.. It may work,.. That is what my maid does to her kids and it works.. She is really clean but she faces the same problem.. I see she knows these things better than us.. she really has nice solutions to most of the problems..

I know! It is the worst. I use the metal lice comb every day but that gets very time consuming. So far it seems to keep them away.

@BridgetThompson is your daughter is long hair? If yes, you should cut her hair, because lice love long hair

@amadeo They do have lice shampoo but it does not work. It will not kill the bugs at all anymore.

I have, they always want to write prescriptions for "sklice" but that is a harsh chemical that I will not keep using on my kids every week. They get it from kids at school and they just keep catching it due to negligent parents not treating their own children. It is overwhelming.

my daughters had head lice, are you using the shampoo and spraying everything, make sure you wash everything blankets, bedding pillows, clothes jackets hats, my friend had to die her kids hair, me i used the treatment over and over every 14 days , everyday they came home i checked their hair with the comb, took hours but you have too,and make sure to tell the school,as so they can check other kids, because if not you will be sending them rite back to get them all over again, and keep them home for a good 3-4 days if not maybe the school week. if the doctor gives you a chemical treament even though its very harsh it works, see if your doctor can give you r.i.d.d. and the spray, and keep on top of the school or tell them your gonna pull your children out, hope this helps, it sucks...and always keep their hair up in a bun,, while at school, and try neem oil....

Well, here in TX they do not allow you to miss school for head lice anymore. They also no longer perform head lice checks or send children home when they have it. Which is the problem. Some parents wont care or wont try to get rid of it when they do not have to. Sad but true.
