Thank you to everyone out here in MyLot land. It is because of so many of you that I took a step that I was afraid to do. I had to have oral surgery and like so many others people before me, I did have it done yesterday. So many people here told me their experiences which helped me face my fear. I am not saying it was a breeze, but, I am saying I am glad I had it done. As I am writing this, I still have a lot of pain but I got through it. I did NOT feel any pain while it was being done and in fact, I actually fell asleep during the process. It was the tooth next to my front teeth so everyone could see it whenever I spoke or smiled. I actually stopped smiling a lot as I know how bad it looked. I had a lot of replies to my post and I read everyone of them over and over again. I hated the way I looked and knew I had to get it fixed. I felt nothing during the procedure but now I am but I am taking some pain pills. I did fall asleep while having it done. I didn't think that was possible. Anyway to all of you that answered my post, I thank you. Now I am still having pains but I am putting ice on it when I need it but the worst is over. I think. Thanks to all of you that got me over the fear.

I've had oral surgery twice and it's very scary having a dentist operating inside of our mouth! Nope, I felt nothing, until a couple hours afterwards! Ibuprofen did the trick, took that pain away until it was all gone. Sorry that I didn't know about your surgery and I'm glad it's finally all over! I think it was probably about a week, before I could start eating solids again.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I have been eating lightly and things I can break down in pieces. I don't get the temporary one out until June or July so I will be very careful until then and I am sure I will always baby that tooth.

@ramapo17 The temporary teeth(2) were in place for a month, in my case. It embarrassed me, because they were an ugly shade of yellow, I wondered why they did that

@kobesbuddy Every dentist has their own way of doing things and being this was my first time of getting this done, I didn't know what was right or wrong.

@Courtlynn I have to go for a check up this week and I am sure after his feeling around in the mouth he will stir up some soreness. I have always been afraid of the dentist but now there are some great medicines that really relaxes me.

They had to cut the broken tooth out and put a temporary one in and then sew me up. Finally today is the first day I do not have the strings hanging down in my mouth.

It's natural to fear the unknown . . . I'm glad the process was not as scary as you thought it would be. It's always a bit difficult/inconvenient after oral surgery - but only temporarily - and that's natural too. Hope you are over the pain soon . . . do you have to have any more procedures after this?

@much2say I just found out I have a few more appointments before the permanent one gets put in. No one told me I would be moving into the dentist office.

I have to have the permanent one put in eventually. I am not looking forward to that either but I can do it.

Take a pain pill and it will help to have no pain for several hours. My husband had one of his wisdom teeth pulled out last Thursday, he had no pain, he is almost 100% well today.

@LadyDuck I can't get use to the numb feeling in the new tooth area. That tooth will be removed in the summer and the new permanent one will get put it.

That is good for him. They gave me 3 different pills. One for pain, one to avoid infections and I forget what the third one was for. Worse thing is I will go through this again when the permanent ones go in during the summer. I was surprised to find out it will take so long until then. They have to wait for the swelling to go down before they start all over.

The procedure is over now and hopefully the pain will be gone soon too. Good for you. I'm sure the results will be worth the huge effort you made to have this done.

I am glad you got it done. I hope I don't need it for my gums. I am trying to be very diligent with them.

So glad you had your oral surgery yesterday. We're proud of you. I've had oral surgery once or twice for my root canal and wisdom tooth being pulled out. You should feel better soon.

Thank you. At 76 years old I am lucky I didn't have anything like this in the past. I will be okay for now until the summer when they put the permanent one in.

This is very good news. I am so afraid of the dentist. A surgery would make me terrified.
