HaHa I Found You!!

This could be a fun thing or a really scary one! Have you ever had someone stalk you and go to great lengths to get your personal information. Phone number, address, stores you shop, etc? They could do this by searching and following you or hiring a private detective to do the searching for them. Seems that would be an expensive way to do it but some have. What makes them so obsessed that they would do this or go to these lengths. Did you lead them on or do they even know you and maybe just saw you and that was all it took for them. What goes through their minds while they are doing this? What will they do when they find the person they are looking for? Would you feel honored that someone went to this extent to find you, maybe for pleasure or maybe for pain? Or would you be fearful of them? What would you do? Have you ever been stalked or ever done the stalking??

I can't imagine that anyone would bother to stalk me but I certainly wouldn't like it.

When I was a teen I had a stalker, we didn't call them that then but he was obsessed with me and it got to be annoying and scary.

@cintol I wonder sometimes, but after I got married and moved away he sort of disappeared. I am glad that he stopped following me and moved on with his life.

@BelleStarr So you had to wait a while for him to stop? That would have been scary, glad he disappeared but the feeling has to linger with you from time to time.

It would be creepy unless it was a friend from years back sincerely needing to contact me.

I've been stalked by a former boyfriend, but just as bad, I've been stalked by a certain female myLotter on here. I do not like it at all.

I have not been stalked to such an extent to be followed by a private investigator. I have been annoyed by some men who wanted to have my phone number and address and they tried to follow me to see where I lived. I usually entered in an apartment building (not where I lived) and hide there until they left.

@LadyDuck Be careful all over, I had a guy take my number and address off my check that I wrote at the store a long time ago and started calling me, I was so scared I never shopped there again. Had to turn him into management, don't know what happened to him but he drove by my house for a long time.

Hmmm... yes, I've been stalked three separate times, Cindy. Two of the stalkers were apparently looking to connect with me... I would have preferred they simply admitted admiration and gone their separate ways. The third stalker was the husband of one of the other stalkers. He was simply looking to retrieve his wife and found the best way to "follow" her was by following me, just as his wife was doing. He and I became friends before his wife finally admitted she had a problem and needed psychiatric help. Would you be surprised if I admitted to you that all three stalkers, when I realized what was happening, scared the poo right out of me? One good thing about the wife and husband stalkers was that they did their stalking before computers entered the picture. It still confused and worried me that someone and then suddenly, two someones were stalking me, but they didn't worry me nearly as much as the third stalker did. I learned I was being stalked by the married couple from several people the wife and then the husband had questioned about me... so, friendly warnings that people were trying to get information about me, my habits and the friends I hung out with made me start trying to get information on them, as much as they were seeking information about me. When you can bring in your friends to confirm they were questioned about you, that stirs others to help you with the problem. I was introduced to the husband. He explained why he was looking into my life and I agreed to help him corral his wife. The other stalker used the internet to locate me and didn't need to question my friends. It isn't difficult to use the internet as a resource that isn't traceable and gives no warnings. One day, quietly minding my own business, I received a shock when I found a Thanksgiving card in my mailbox from out of the blue. It came from someone I had been talking with on an online site. I hadn't given that person my address, but they certainly had it! Now, THAT was scary!

@cintol I did block the third person from sending me physical mail and let the owner of the site I met her on know that she was getting personal information about me, in case I needed help in stopping her. I also ignored anything after that from her on the site where we'd met. Both women seemed fascinated with me and I have no idea why. I certainly didn't intend to draw attention to myself in the way they reacted to me. (I treat everyone the way I prefer to be treated. I like to talk and will talk about any subject someone is interested in. I'm a sort of jack-of-all-trades, if you understand the term. I can talk about anything for as long as someone wants to talk about it and usually from my own experiences.) Some things (women included) are a mystery to me and likely always will be. *shrug*

That must have been terrifying to know they had your address, why did they go to such lengths to find you. You must have been irresistible but, all joking aside, It is scary when they know where you live. I hope you nipped it right away with that card in the mail before you found them on your porch! Now the husband and wife team, thats funny that the man searched for you and you ended up helping him catch his wife!! I wish someone could tell me why people do this to others, what ever possesses them to do this to another person.

Oh dear. I hope this didn't happen to you. It hasn't happened to me... back in the day I used to chat online, on Yahoo messenger. I don't even know if they have that program any more. Some numbers of years later - one of my contacts on there, found me on Facebook. I didn't get their message right away, since Facebook hides messages from people you aren't friends with, or at least it used to. The man was quite angry that I didn't reply right away. Red flag. Didn't add him.

It has happened to me twice, its very scary especially when they know where you live, your schedule and where you pick up your little ones from the sitter when you get off work. Good for you watching for that red flag. Why was he so angry, does he not know how messaging with FB works when your not a friend? Some people

@cintol Oh scary! I hope those people are out of your life. That is way inappropriate and a threat. Oh yeah, and it's like... we hadn't chatted in something like 10 years... so why the sudden urgency?

i have back a while but it was usually a man and i soon stopped them by threats. the only ones i may have kind of "stalked " are people i tried to find i was either related to or wondered if they were old friends. i back off as soon as i find out either they are not or they don't want bothered. but not to a length of wanting to know everything about them like addresses or socials or anything. that would be scary as they would want to steal your identity or something.
