What do you use hazard lights in your car for?

Usually people use the hazard lights to indicate that their car has stopped or broken down and cannot be moved or if there has been an accident and cars behind need to stop.
I have seen people use them for many other purposes -
1. Indicating that they are going straight ahead at a junction
2. When it rains
3. When slowing down for a speed bump
4. During fog
Usually these are not the situations when one expects hazard lights to be switched on.
When do you use hazard lights?
