Can I have your attention?

Why do some people need to draw so much attention to being noticed?
Do you know (or ever knew) someone like that at some point in your life?
I have a classmate who tries (in all classes) to show that he is the "best" in the class (trying to ask difficult questions that he doesn't even know how to formulate, for example) at all possible times.
It's so ridiculous watch him trying to catch the attention of the professors (who by the way, do not value him, haha).

Yes I have known people like that in my life, and I find them exhausting and so annoying. They are also the kind of people where every single thing is all about them and the entire universe must be about them or they lose their mind
