Listening to sad songs makes you feel sad?

When talking about music, especially the saddest songs and / or slow rhythms, many people make an automatic association with the fact that many people feel even sadder to hear them. What do you think about this? In my case, this isn't work like that... Not at all. I listen to this kind of songs very often and I don't feel sad anytime.

I truly think it depends on the person. I remember Jim Reeves saying in an interview that, although he wasn't a sad person, he loved to sing sad songs. On the contrary, Patsy Cline was once quoted as saying, "I sing just like I hurt inside." Sad songs don't make me sad all the time. As Elton John once sang, sad songs say so much! (And yes, I really did just reference Elton John and two country singers!)

Yes, sad songs make me sad but at times the sadness needs to come out.

I think it all depends, like if it is a song that was a friend and mines songs and they are no longer here with us I will get sad.

I guess it depends. sometimes lyrics can make me sad, sometimes just the melody can make me sad. can be slow or fast. or sometimes a song will be associated with a memory and that's what makes it sad/bittersweet, not the song itself

When I heard the song Tears in Heaven, it makes me sad. My mother also gets sad when she hears it.

It depends on the song a bit I guess. Some songs make me feel sad.

I think it depends on the person. I believe when you are already sad and you listen to sad music that you find beautiful, it can be therapeutic.

I sometimes relate sad music to my sad memories so whenever I listen to them it usually brings me down and it changes my mood immediately, nahhh sad music is not for me

Not really! I like sad songs and slow songs too. Some people think that i am sad or what, when im really not. Those songs just make me relax and they make me feel like they speak to me.

I attach songs to certain memories . . . and sometimes a sad song will rehash a certain bad memory and I might get sad over it. But then I could find a more uplifting song and feel better .
