One of the fruits that is currently being harvested in Indonesia is the rambutan fruit. Rambutan fruit is a very fresh and very delicious fruit. I often buy it when the harvest season because the price is very cheap and usually I buy a lot so I can share with coworkers and my family.
Well, one of the processed fruits of rambutan I love so much is pickled rambutan. This menu is very hits and becomes my family's favorite dessert. Besides it taste really refreshing, this menu is very healthy too. The ingredients needed are quite simple, only rambutan, the big chili I have cut (for spicy taste), lime (for sour taste), kiamboy (for salty sour taste), sugar, a little salt and water.
I only need to cook water and mix chunks in it. Then after 3 minutes, reduce the heat, sprinkle sugar and salt and stir. Stir for about 3 minutes then add the mixture to rambutan and lime which has been placed in a bowl. Then wait cold in refrigerator. It tastes very delicious after coming out of the refrigerator. This is a simple menu that I often make when there are family events. Hehehe

We do not pickle rambutan, we just eat it as it is, first time I have heard that it's pickled, it's also not always available although there are a lot in stores on certain seasons.

This is the first time I've heard that this fruit can also be pickled. My wife said that the fruit of rambutan is very sweet but I have not tried it yet. There are many vendors who sell rambutan especially if it's in season but unfortunately we can not distinguished if its fresh or old stock so I don't buy it.

in Indonesia, if it's season rambutan, you can find fresh rambutan sellers. The price is also very cheap. That's right, the taste of rambutan is sweet. About 2 years ago, rambutan pickles suddenly exploded among young Indonesians. And it turns out I also enjoy the taste. Sweet, sour and very refreshing.

@redtesha Yes, if it's in season we can find vendors selling freshly harvested rambutan. I think I will try it so I can distinguish the taste of lychee vs rambutan because the texture/appearance of both fruit is almost the same I think..
