On YouTube, I am watching random videos and it pointed me to click a video from World's Best 2019. It is a talent competition, the likes of America's Got Talent. I am amazed to hear a Mongolian contestant who upfront says he cannot speak English. But when it's his turn to show his talent, he owned the stage and sings perfectly with the good diction and enunciation. It is a country song, baby. Music to my ears! Good job this guy. First link from his Mongolia Got Talent audition. Second is from World's Best 2019 audition. https://youtu.be/hTYg5w-Fsks

If he cannot speak English we can deduce he cannot also understand, Just wondering how he can interpret English songs if he does not understand them

Yes, he said he cannot understand any single word. I believe he learned to sing the song by listening to it. And there is a lyrics I bet that he studied. Well, I don't know if he can read. I bet he can.

@florelway I guess he felt the song and did not try to understand it.. Music and singing is felt from the heart

@Sheali I guess so maybe he understands it through the tune only.

You can sing in a language you do not know if you learn the words of the song.

I agree. The judge say "He can't speak any English, does he understand what he sings" - paraphrased.

@jobelbojel It does not matter if he can understand what he sings.

Very nice job! There are others who can do that, but I'm sure it's not easy.

It is not easy. In my experience, singing along with the Taiwanese or Korean song takes a lot of months to familiarize.

That's so good! Yaa there are singers who don't understand a language very well but still sing songs... I guess they feel the song and not try to understand them..
