A few days ago I mentioned there would probably be some strange people show up in John's "strange" countdown, and that prompted me to look at songs with "people" in the title. While I'll let John open the Doors on that subject, this is tying in with my "not the song I mean" countdown, because there are two songs with the same title on my list! (You can probably guess which one.) Meanwhile, let's start this countdown.
#10: People Are People - Depeche Mode
You'll dance to anything
By de-patch commode
(Dead Milkmen, "Instant Club Hit (You'll Dance to Anything)")
Well, yeah. And sometimes, while you're dancing, you're being asked to think.
A great peace anthem for the 80s behind a driving new wave/techno beat. This is one of Depeche Mode's biggest hits and most enduring songs, with a message ("why should it be that you and I should get along so awfully," "I can't understand what makes a man hate another man") that continues to be lost on society.
Maybe one day we'll get the message.
People Are People
Written by Martin Gore
Recorded by Depeche Mode
From Some Great Reward, 1984

@WiseGhots -- have I lost my mind? You're being rather presumptuous to think I ever had a mind, aren't you????
Seriously, glad you enjoy the song. I do, too!
