Solar Power VS Oil

There is this silent thought in my mind about energy sources and I always see solar power as a great, clean, and free source of energy. But why it is not being utilized as they do to oil? I really think using solar energy would strongly benefit man and the environment.

A lot of big companies hinder the implementation of it. They pay big taxes to the government.

@autoassign yes, to be honest hydropower was invented as early as 1980. Solar and other forms of clean energy were invented already, but now, look, we are still using gas,

Solar power is clean, but it is not stable. And it will need a very big land.
