So Here’s the Scoop

I went shopping with my husband yesterday, blindly. He took me to three different “shops”.
The first was a boatyard where he tried to get me to agree to a boat that he had chosen. It really was beautiful, but I do not want one. No dice.
Next, he drove to a car dealership, which was holding a hard top convertible sports car for us. The car was similar to the one I have up north. He thought I would like it to keep here in Florida, since we only have one car here. I drive as little as possible alone in Florida, however. I’m uncomfortable with the 5 and 6 lane roads and highways and all the lunatic drivers, so we don’t need it. No dice.
After that, we went to Palm Beach and went into a jewelry store where I have one of my watches cleaned and battery changed. The jeweler, a nice man, brought out two rings (previously chosen by my husband) for me to look at. One was a gorgeous round ruby surrounded in diamonds. The other was a large rectangular natural polished emerald surrounded by good size diamonds with a band set with diamonds.
I have a ruby ring and I’m not crazy about emeralds, because they are rather soft and can chip or scratch easily. However, I wear a lot of green including emerald green dresses. I even have two emerald necklaces and a pendant. My husband likes the emerald ring, because it matches my eyes. Dice!
I told him to surprise me with one of the rings and nothing else. It will be my Valentine’s Day gift. He sure worked hard this year. Then out we went for our Friday date night dinner. Double dice!

These sort of things are normally done to impress a bride to be - you are one blessed soul

@Happy2BeMe Don’t get me started! We are only here for six months, it needs too much upkeep and work, and will need to be kept in a marina. Knowing him, he would only use it once in a blue moon, and to top it off, he will need lessons, many lessons. It’s much cheaper to rent a boat, too.

Wow that was quite a day of shopping. Both rings sound gorgeous.
Bet your hubby had his fingers crossed you would say yes to the boat. Hope he wasn't too disappointed

I already have a ruby with diamonds also, I would chose the emerald. Like you no boat or car either.

Too funny his way of shopping is big shopping. Maybe if he would have took you to the jewelers first he might have a boat or a car today! Jokes aside, that’s an awesome kind of shopping with your husband!

That is a fantastic shot, it's very hard to capture birds flying, I've yet to get that lucky.
Boy, he really wanted to spend serious money ..... hmmm, I imagine he did on the ring, I hope he gets you the emerald. I love green, momma had bright green eyes.

I can imagine @DianneN it is so hard to get really good shots of birds in flight, the few times I tried I ended up with a really clear shot of the sky the same happens when I've tried to get shots of our lizards but shots of dirt aren't as pretty as sky

Yes, mom had beautiful eyes @DianneN I've always wanted green eyes but I ended up with a inbetween kinda color. When you say muddy, since there are so many variations of earth colors, just what kind of muddy do you mean? There's the deep brown, light brown, grayish brown, grayish black, reddish brown and the list goes on, I'm being silly of course, but you knew that, right?

As soon as I saw him with the fish, I grabbed my phone and shot photos like a madwoman. He's so fast. This was one of the clearest photos. Thanks!
I will be surprised no matter which ring he chooses. Your mom's eyes must have been beautiful. Sometimes, mine look muddy.

If you had agreed to all three would he have gotten them all? I'm not sure whether he was prepared knowing you'd say no to the bigger items or whether he really wanted the boat or car too?

@DianneN So good thing you nayed the first two choices then, even though you did have good reasons for doing so. I don't know that I'd want to drive around Florida either being only there a portion of the year. And another thing that would be expensive with a boat and another car is the insurance. For the boat probably insurance on the boat itself and some type of insurance in case the lessons didn't take while he was on that boat.
I'm glad he's come around to your way of seeing things.

@MarshaMusselman Thanks and I agree. However, we will be living in Florida as residents for 6 month and a day now. We have 3 cars in CT and the one in FL, and that insurance by itself is a killer. I never even though of insurance on the boat until you mentioned it.

He definitely wants a boat, but it would require an awful lot of work and expense. He needs lessons, too. I don't think it's practical since we don't live here year round. I think he understands that now after me harping on him for a long time. It's easier to rent a boat.
He would have gotten the car, too, since we only have one here, which we share. I don't mind that at all. I doubt that he would have bought me a ring if I had okayed the car and/or boat.

@DianneN I went on Amazon the other day when you mentioned wanting to rub is tummy but wouldn't be able to get close to do so, and they had a stuffed osprey that makes bird calls and I listened to its chirp. I could see how that chirp could get annoying after a while. One thing, you always know when he's near.
Yes, only a couple more days until Valentine's Day. Did you get a new dress for the occasion too?
