Sometimes there are obscurities in these countdowns (see John's "strange" song of the day). Sometimes they're so obvious that you are only taking bets on what number they'll show up at on the countdown. Today's song on my list of favorites is probably the first or second song that most people would have thought of when it comes to songs that have "people" in the title. Happy to not disappoint.
#5: Everyday People - Sly & the Family Stone
Have you noticed how those 60s "love" and "get together" songs are so thematically modern they could have been released last week? It's been over fifty years since this song was released, but its message -- "we've got to live together" -- is as important and necessary now as it's ever been.
Love this song. Hope people one day take its message to heart.
