Inline image (I tried 3 times to post a picture of my diplomas but it just wouldn't work!) A little over 20 years ago I was leading a nice, quiet, uneventful life, sometimes working, going to a movie once a week, eating out, reading a couple of magazines a week, the paper every day, watchingTV in the evening and reading 2-3 books a week and then, one day, a package arrived--a computer tower, but at that time I didn't know you called it a tower! There were wires, a keyboard, a thing called a mouse and me! Okay, most people I knew then didn't know what a computer was--oh sure some of the restaurants I worked in were starting to do everything with computers but they were all set up when we came into work. After unwrapping everything I put this big metal thing on the table, looked at it and just shook my head back and forth. What do you do when you are looking at a big metal 'thing' and there is nothing that says this turns it on? There is nothing written and no obvious buttons or controls. I had no idea how to turn on this 'computer'! Being the smart guy I am--hush, Chuck!--as long as it isn't technical I grabbed a phone book (Hey, you all remember phonebooks?) made some calls and the next thing I knew I was attending 2-night classes. I learned how to turn the computer on, how to use the mouse by playing Solitaire and how to send emails. Now 20 years later I don't read newspapers, I have magazines piled up on my table and I haven't finished a book I started in February 2016--okay, it is a boring book but still..... Now I have cable, Internet, a cell phone and technology is driving me CRAZY! I spend 2 hours 11 AM-1 PM every day on the computer--I spend every evening 5 PM to 11:30 PM on the computer and then I play Heart Deluxe on the computer for about an hour before I go to sleep and my day is gone! It's all Chuck's fault!!! Well, not all--Gene steered me to a blogging site!)

My oldest son brought home a bunch of towers, keyboard and mice and said he was putting together two desk tops one for him and one for me. I would drive home and find parts to a computer and pick them up and take them home. When he was done we had two working desk tops and we signed up for internet service. That was in the 90's and that is how I got started on loving the internet. He later put together laptop and fixed his friends desk tops and computers.

It is amazing how much time they eat up. But it is nice having all this stuff available all the time.

My children are like that and they have their own computers so that they don't bother me here working.
